Please...need help with cabinet pulls!

I am new and posted this before...but NO ONE responded! Can you please give me your opinion? I really need help.

I will be getting my new cabinets soon! They are shaker style in a medium maple. I have decided to go with Amerock ss bar pulls. I am pretty sure that I would like them all placed horizontally for a different look.

I am having trouble though with my one long counter. It has a 30 inch base cabinet with a single drawer and 2 doors below it. Then there is a 21 inch 4 drawer unit. Then another 30 inch base unit with a single drawer/2doors.

I was thinking of using the same size pulls on the entire counter. I was thinking either 10 or 13 inch pulls. But those long drawers are questionable.

Do you think it will look right to center a pull on the drawer and then have 2 horizontal pulls below it...all the same size?

Another option would be to have a longer pull on the drawer to balance out the 2 on the doors?

A third option would be to place 2 handles on the drawer directly above the 2 doors (so it looks like 2 drawers above 2 doors)?

Then I am wondering about the 4 drawer cabinet. If all the pulls on the other cabinets are the same size should this center cabinet be the same? Or could I use longer ones?

I am going for a sleek, uniform look, but this has me in a quandry. Then I start second guessing myself and saying maybe I should go a more traditional route with vertical placement on the doors.

If I am reading this right, you are planning to put a 10 or 13 inch pull horizontally on a door? Personally, I wouldn't do it but what you need to do is take some paper, draw it out and see if you like it. If you do, then do what pleases you.

Sometimes you don't get responses because of the timing. Your message gets pushed down before people who have a good response see it. It's not you, or a lack of willingness to help.

Can you draw us a picture? I have no good idea of what you're asking. What I will say is that I'm planning to use multiple knobs in some places just for decor. I may pull back on that if my backsplash is too busy, but I'm planning on it.

You can usually wait until your cabinets are in before you buy all of your hardware. The best thing to do is to stick them on with tape and see how you like the way it looks. You're going to be the best judge of that.

I agree and this is a good pic to explain pull layouts not only IMO should they be in proportion to the cabinets but sometimes it does not work to have them all installed in one direction. I choose pulls at the end of kitchen installs and often take a long time to figure out proportion and how all the pulls will function once installed so they do not hit each other . I use Lee Valley stainless pulls since they come in many sizes

Where the plastic is, that's where the peninsula and stools will be. We are going to be veneering the white beams in walnut, new walnut mantle over fireplace and new fireplace surround everntually too. If you have thoughts on new lighting in the room, and/or paint colors....I'm down to hear those too :)

"I think the premise is to have pulls be *no more than* 1/3 the drawer length." I think designers invent "rules" like this just to have rules. I have never paid much attention to such nonsense. There is a limit, of course, to how wide pulls can be. You don't want them to interfere with drawer operation. Other than that, anything that looks good to you is just fine. As for variations in length, don't worry about it. There is no rule that all pulls have to be the same size, although the same general design is good. One thing about pantry pulls. You are probably going to be opening pantry doors with arms full of groceries, so a pull you can operate with an elbow, wrist, knee, or one pinky finger is a good choice.

@HU-187528210 I am using the 5" on all my uppers and lower cabinet doors, plus I am using the 5" on three other drawers. I am using 9" on the other stack of drawers. I haven't decided on the drawers in the bar area, either using 7" or 9" there for 24" drawers I just thought maybe the 7" would be easier to grab for the trash pull out and would match the 7" handle for the 24" microwave drawer in the island So hard to decide.

I am not sure if I understand your question - a diagram would be a big help - but...

In the case of the base cabinets with one drawer on top of two doors, I think that it would look nice if the ends of pulls on the doors lined up with the ends of the pull on the drawers. So if you were using a 15 inch pull on the drawer, you'd have a 6 inch pull on one door a 3 inch space in the middle where the doors open, and a 6 inch pull on the other door.

I would keep the handles on the 4 drawer cabinet proportional rather than the same size as the ones on the larger cabinets.

Thanks for your responses! I do know better than to take it personally that no one answered. But I really wanted some other opinions! I see now that my message was not really clear. I am sorry that I don't know how to post a diagram.

I think you are getting the drift. The pulls are those simple bar ones that come in various lengths. I am just not sure what lengths I will want or need. There are so many different lengths! I was going to order them online because I can get them for a much better price than buying locally. I don't know if I will have time to do that once the cabinets are installed.

I like what sailorman said about the base cabinets with one drawer on top of 2 doors. The long one on the drawer should balance out the two on the doors so the outer ends line up.

I will have 2 of those base cabinets on each end. In the middle will be a cabinet with 4 drawers. This cabinet is 21 inches whereas the other 2 are 30 inches. I just don't think it will look right to have too many different size pulls.

I keep looking at all the pictures of your beautiful kitchens and zooming in on the ones that have the same pulls that I want!

I have a drawer cabinet arrangement like yours. My drawer is 27 inches and I have a single 6 inch drawer pull on it, centered between the doors on the bottom. I looks just fine.

My neighbor has a 30 inch cabinet and she opted for 2 -6 inch handles on her drawer, to make it look like 2 drawers. It looks fine too.

We went with shorter handles, but if you are going with that length of handle I don't think you'd need 2, but it's your decision.

I think it would be a good idea to do as suggested before. Use graph paper and draw the cabinet to scale and then add the handles and see which way you like it best. Which ever way you decide, I'm sure they will look fine as long as they are put on straight. Use a template to do that.
