vanity crown molding vs. ceiling crown molding
Comments (1)You can attack it from a couple of different angles... If the crown is all the same, then you can consider it all "room crown", and you can then paint it all creamy white. I have seen instances where the crown is all the same and the color simply transitions to blue at the soffit-to-cabinet crown miters. Your choice. I prefer to make the two crowns different though, making the cabinet crown smaller than the room crown. With the cabinet crown minor to the more major room crown, cope the cabinet crown to butt into the room crown. Paint the room crown white and the cabinet crown blue. Much depends on the size and styles of the crowns, etc, how they meet up, how they relate, etc. But it really boils down to your personal preference. The good news? It's only paint. Easy to change if you decide to change your mind....See Morecrown moulding, white or same color as cabinets?
Comments (6)How about a really dark color? Or else cherry on top (whipped cream optional LOL) and make transition to white back at the walls (same profile)? Someone else has thread about transitioning CM color but I haven't seen any replies to that....See MoreCrown molding over painted cabinets
Comments (3)Is there a clean break between the kitchen and breakfast room? Maybe a beam or soffit or other barrier at the ceiling level? If so, and if it were mine, I'd paint it to keep it consistent with your cabinets. To me, a dark stripe at the ceiling, especially at 8', would be jarring. Always drawing the eye to it. In my current house, I have painted crown molding in my living/dining room, but just across the center hall is an ash paneled study. There's a natural break between the rooms. The study has the same profile crown molding, so it blends but doesn't match. I hope that makes sense. If you have a picture, that might help to visualize your space. Comments (5)Thanks. The challenge is I want the crown for the living room, so basically trying to determine if cabinet reality is a deal breaker (vs just less than ideal) since I’ve never like how “unfinished” the living room looks. I would not create a soffit. I’ve found a few pictures of homes with my situation with crown but not many so it is hard to visualize since mine seems thicker. I may be out of luck in living room I guess...See Moremeg711
