I've never heard of the lighted wine bottles. I have seen the wicked/oil candle wine bottles, and the glass cubes (like shown here.) I am anxious to see what you are speaking of.

I have a friend that makes these. She does a great job, and hand paints the bottles (unless they have a really cool label). Here is one that she gave me last year:

I checked with Chloe, and she adds a decorative bottle stopper to the top.

Those are really pretty, but I don't have the correct tools to drill a hole. I bought my glass blocks off eBay.

Newhomebuilder, All that you need is a regular drill and a diamond 1/2" bit. My DH just drilled and kept spraying water on the bit so the glass would not get too hot.

Terriks, That bottle is lovely but I have no artistic talent so I can't paint. But, I did get a good idea of how to attach the stuff around the neck. Thanks!

I just don't feel comfortable drilling into glass. lol

My sister-in-law told me that she just puts a short strand of lights (the kind that ends with a bulb and not a plug)inside the bottle opening, and plugs it into the outlet.

Please look at this bottle that I found on eBay. The seller thinks a lot of her creation. $30 including shipping!!!

You can do it without drilling the hole and it still looks pretty. When there is a hole in the bottom it looks a bit more finished because you don't see the cord hanging down.

If I can get mine to look like an adult - instead of a 3rd grader - made it I will post a picture.

This is a different approach. Requires no drilling, and is cordless!

That's a neat idea, but I don't understand why all the hard work. I tried it with my button light and a wine bottle. The bottle sits right on top of the light base, and the lighting part fits into the bottle hollow. The base of the light is a deep gray in color, so the right bottle looks good with it.

Have you ever used Gallery Glass? You can make a stained glass design or just about anything you want. Here is a snowman one. GG is really easy to do, the hardest part of this project is drilling the hole!

raenjapan, Love your idea, wouldn't that be beautiful for perfume bottles and under any crystal/glass items. Where do you find the LED/battery that small to fit in a coaster? And what are they called?

Found them, "Dot-It" Osram, Sylvania, cb2, etc.
They even make spa ones waterproof.

I don't drill my bottle lights either. I just put the lights in through the opening and hide the cord with the bow. Here is one I coated with cinnamon and then mod podge. When it is plugged in it gives off the best smell.
