I like the dark floor tile because it matches with the dark glass tile. I think I saw in one of your other posts that your vanity will be a medium wood tone. All the colors would tie in together nicely. The white subway will keep the room looking crisp. Will you have a tub or shower only? I am also deciding on my bathroom tiles. One of my choices is having the same glass tiles like yours, but with glossy taupe colored subway tiles (matching the other glass tile color). I would like to do white subways like you, but we have a rust problem in our water and I'm not sure if I can maintain white grout/tiles. Do you think taupe subways with your glass mosaics would look ok? Or would the colors blend too much. I really like the white tiles you selected....

Sometimes I wish there were fewer choices. I'm sure if there were, I'd be complaining that there aren't enough. :) I'm redoing my hall bath and am using white subways in the tub/shower alcove. After dithering over the color, I chose Daltile Arctic White, semi-gloss, which are plenty glossy. I'm just doing the standard offset layout. I'm not using accent tiles, chair rails, etc. but am going to use 1x6 quarter-round along the perimeter. It's understated, but I think a nice way to finish it off.

Thanks! It's 1x1 carrar mosaic. I wanted to incorporate a mosaic somewhere but at the same time wanted everything be soothing and not too busy so the shower floor was the perfect spot for it. I'll try to post my completed bathroom thread this afternoon.

nik, Welcome! A couple of thoughts: if you love absolute black but are worried about maintenance, look at a leathered finish. It is much more forgiving than the polished finish to smudges, etc. There might be a reason you aren't seeing a lot of pictures with your color cabs and white tile - you might be right and it might be too bright. Try to get some sample tiles and bring them home and tape them to the wall to get an idea. You might find the answer really fast! Check the Finished Kitchen blog and Backsplash slideshow (link to FKB below, backsplash slideshow at FKB) for more pics to see if anyone else has done it - there are lots of successful rule breakers here! Maybe consider an off-white subway. Again checking a sample in your kitchen with your cabs and counter will help. If you both love the glass mosaic you might be able to incorporate it in a small area - like behind the backsplash or as an accent with 2 or 3 rows of mosaic between rows of subway - there are some examples in the finished backsplashes.
