need a very creamy yet bright white to go with golds and browns

my room is coming together at last and i'm ready to build the wall of cabinetry in it.

the fabric is golds, browns and greens with a pop of pink.(ralph lauren woodland gardens bedding iirc).

so the cabinets need to be painted a bright creamy colour which helps the gold tones.

the room gets a ton of light from north/east/south btw.

i hope that makes sense to you guys!

Lucretzia, it has been about 5 months and so far, so good. We also have a dry bar adjacent to our dining room and the granite guys forgot to seal it! We got red wine stains on it right away...it is a bar after all! :) I managed to get them out with bleach...thank goodness...and hubby ran to the hardware store to buy a sealer and we sealed it right away. We also spilled wine on the island (which was sealed) and it wiped up easily...no problem. So, I assume as long as it is kept sealed, we should be ok. Not only is our granite honed, but it is also pitted in some areas. It is pretty cool and we get lots of positive comments about how unique it is. The only problem so far with the pitting is when my 4-year old daughter paints at the bar, I have had to use a little brush to get paint out of one of the "pits" already. No biggie, but if the counter was polished, it wouldn't be an issue at all. We had polished at our last house and it was super easy to keep clean. That said, I would do honed again in a minute. It really suits our space. I think as long as we maintain the sealer on it we should be fine. The good part is due to the movement of the stone, even if it does get a stain, it will probably blend right in! :)

Eliza, thanks to you and others--I painted my kitchen tobacco road. I was looking for a color to match an accent wall in my family room, which I had painted a rich brown called tyler taupe. We ended up painting the den in bm decatur buff painting over the tyler taupe, as I had a hard time finding the perfect color to match the accent wall. I'm really happy with how the two colors compliment each other! They both are gold toned, but the decatur buff is a darker gold with more brown in it. The colors transition around a corner, so visually they are not right up against each other, if that makes sense. We are going to look for a new camera today, and I promise to post back on this thread tonight if we are successful!

oh i really do want the room to look 'collected over time' (it is anyway,lol), so thanks for putting that into words for me. the walls are ben moore rosemary sprig (which we like)and the trim is non-descript off white with no gloss to it and i'm not really sure if that's where the glossy finish should be anyway. i think i'll leave the trim alone until the fireplace and built-ins are done. so i want to brighten up somewhere, and am unsure if it should be a glossy cream brick fireplace, and/or the built-ins and/or the trim or two or three different shades even. therefore i think i'll start with the brand newly built faux brick fireplace, since that's a huge gorgeous feature in the room. i'll take pics as soon as possible, i promise! it's sort of modeled after lavender lass's rustic romantic idea. i know i want it to be creamy and elegant enough to wow the room. options include bm mascarpone and linen. which is best to work with golds,pinks and greens? fireplace mantle would be the only painted wood in the room, today i'm leaning towards a dark walnut stain. i can wait on the built-ins,they're not even built yet. i can't wait to go to the paint store now, thanks!

My local SW store is doing a promo of buy $75 in gift cards and get an in-home design consult at no charge. I figured "why not?, I'm going to spend the $ anyway" and a second opinion wouldn't hurt. After all, you don't have to follow their advice if you don't like it. Turns out the young designer/sales person they sent has an art degree and really was helpful re colors and tones. I was looking for just the right shade of white for my LR and she nailed it as well as confirming some other colors I had chosen for another area and making some useful suggestions. I applied the gift cards to a 40% off promotion so total cost was quite reasonable. You might check to see if your store offers the service. By the way, you can buy your paint untinted at the sale price and bring it in later to be tinted after you finalize your colors.

A white that has a little more depth than Linen, but is still bright, is BM Bone White. I have BM Linen White walls in my entryway and stairwell, & in a couple of other rooms, but have Bone White on my kitchen cabinets.

I can imagine the Bone White working very well with the earthy tones you describe. My kitchen has hardwood floors, (brown) green walls & granite with cream, black and gray running through it. I think all the tones are very compatible, and I get lots of compliments on the wall & cabinet paint colors!

nope, that's not it but thanks for looking.
i do like so many of his colours and patterns!
(even tho he tried to copywrite the word polo, what a wanker)!!

anyway mine has a background of mostly tans with golds/browns and pink roses and green leaves.
and i've looked for it for hours today and can't find it anywhere on line either!
it's discontinued, and i guess it's all gone for real now.

luckily i still love it, it's been several years since i found it and decided to make curtains for the room.
they are finally all up and i'm fairly happy with them.

the huge vintage desk rocks the space, as does the matching pair of green chenille recliners.
next is the creamy bright white closet system, then the same colour white fireplace across the room in the corner, and finally a dark wood cabinet coffee wet bar next to the fireplace.
and i will take pics--hell, i'll probably have them done professionally i'll be so happy!
