HELP with undermoung sink color with off-white cabinets!

I am planning an off-white crackle subway backsplash with off-white cabinets,SS appliances,ORB birdcage pulls and faucet, hardwood floors. Over the kitchen sink I have a big Anderson window with white trim. You will see 4 inches or so of the off-white crackle backsplash. Paint color will be BM rich creme and granite will be Yellow River. Half of the people I have asked insist on biscuit sink and the other half are vehement about white. I know this subject has been discussed with regard to apron front sinks and the white is really the classic choice. But with an undermount and with an off-white backsplash? Will the cabinets look dirty with the white sink and trim? If I go with biscuit, will the trim being white white (so that there is a contrast with the paint color) look odd since there would no other white in the room? Also, I was thinking of the Rohl fireclay but read some people had denting problems so am thinking of the Kohler Cape Dory. HELP! Must decide on sink soon! Thanks so much!

I'd go with Stainless steel undermount. Your appliances are SS and the sink doesn't have to match any trim, cabinets, or backsplash anyway..

Thanks for your replies! Sharb's kitchen is similar to what I have planned -- but all of my cabinets will go all the way to the ceiling. It looks like hers have a space between the top of the cab and the ceiling? However it makes me realize that off-white cabs can look lovely with white trim! My kitchen will be a very simple/classic style and there is not any height variation with the cabs -- it's almost "boxy" (by design of course!) since the kitchen is a rectangle with the island in the middle. The molding is also a design choice, it will add depth to the boxiness. Hope that is a good way to describe it! I'm having trouble picturing how it would look if that line was broken by painting the molding white. I'm still open to suggestions! Thanks!

do you have a lot of natural light? Are you looking to lighten it up or to make it seem more cozy"? Have you tried a pale blue, almost a gray, but with a blue undertone so you aren't trying to match the granite tones exactly but to just be complementary? There are also a lot of colors that lean toward "greige" that may incorporate all of the elements, again without specifically matching.

I have off-white and although I love it now, it was a NIGHTMARE to get it to look half decent. Instead of gray undertones, mine have PINK. You would never know it now but I had to go through 3 wall colors, going darker and darker to make the off-white appear whiter. I had to forget the white subway backsplash I'd planned and get something that wasn't so bright white. Then, I had to paint all the trim in the room off-white because having too much bright white in the room, made the cabinets look pink or dingy, depending on the lighting. I'm not trying to discourage you, because it is a nice look.... It's not impossible to pull off, just takes some extra coordination. My carpenter is going with off-white and he witnessed the whole debacle. He said he loves it! Thankfully, my kitchen is closed off to the rest of the rooms, 2 doorways and a pass through window. The rest of the house still has white trim. Despite everything, again, I love my new kitchen. I even noticed that I prefer my brighter white ceramic utensil caddies and vases in the room now. I thought I was doomed to off-white everything forever. Here's the result, not finished yet but not dingy!

Your range hood is gorgeous. I think that the off-white glazed cabinets would look stunning with the range hood, i think they would defintely compliment each other. The plain white would look to simple next to that hood. In the magazine picture of the kitchen you posted, those cabinets look white with no glaze and the kitchen has a very crisp, formal look to it. I think the range hood that you picked looks very warm and the cabinets would look beutiful with the glaze.

I know you didn't include this option but with an undermount I would also consider stainless. I put a cast iron sink in my first kitchen, a soapstone sink in this kitchen, and will be going back to stainless (albeit a nice heavy gauge) in my next kitchen. Cast iron is really quiet, but I am tired of breaking glasses. It doesn't happen a lot but enough.

IF you are still set on cast iron, which is a classic choice, you can order finish samples from Kohler. The Cape Dory is a nice looking sink I personally would go for the biscuit since it is *slightly* warmer than dead white and will be surrounded by granite.

I was ready to consider SS as I know most of you suggested, but last night found the GREATEST sink--an apront front white fluted fireclay by Whitehaus. Originally, the only thing I knew about the remodel was that I wanted a sink like that, but then I had abandoned the idea because of cost and the fact that you can't put the garbage under the sink. (Now I'm hoping to make room in the island--the microwave will also be there). But I think my problem was that I just didn't want an undermount of any color. So now the fact that the sink is white and I have off-white cabinets doesn't bother me. That kind of sink is timeless and I am hoping to achieve a somewhat vintage look. I know this sounds insane but I was waking up at night in a sweat worrying over white or biscuit with the undermount and the decision to go with the apron front
was truly liberating. I had no idea how stressful the decisions are and we haven't even started construction! I won't even tell you about how hard I looked before I decided on the Yellow River granite!

I can't thank you all enough for all your support! It's so nice to have people out there to help you with all of this madness. I promise to post pics as soon as my 22-year-old daughter comes back in two weeks and can help me with that.

ok, I can see it sounds like you found a Whitehaus sink you love-yay!. If you've ordered your cabinets, do bear in mind an apron front-as opposed to the planned undermount-will require scribing to your sink base, so do be sure 1) your base cab can accommodate it and 2) that you have someone skillful you trust to do the scribing :)

And oh, my goodness, YES on the stress and the waking up at night worrying about the remodel. We're all here with you!

For anyone else considering a "biscuit" colored Rohl sink-IT HAS PINK UNDERTONES. If you need "off white" I can recommend the Barclay "bisque." I chose the Rohl in biscuit but when I saw the pink color in person, I switched to the Barclay in bisque (Porcher also makes an off white color option- I don't remember what they call it- but I have heard it is not pink toned.) Ultimately I freaked out and exchanged the Barclay bisque for Barclay white (the restocking fee was almost a wash because the white is cheaper than the bisque)

Of course, now that the kitchen is FINALLY almost done (16+ months and counting) I can see I should have kept the bisque, LOL.
