Anyone with travertine floors white walls and stained cabinets?

Our cabinet guy just informed us it will be an extra $5000 to paint all our cabinets. So we are going to have to do a total 180. We were planning a white on white kitchen - its a beachhouse so we want it light and airy...but not for an extra $5000. there is a limit to everything.

We have travertine floors, the sink walls is a wall of windows on one side, opposite the window wall I have a huge corner cabinet, a 48" fridge a 20" cabinet and a desk - so it is almost entirely cabinets.

Then the base of the U is the stove with upper cabinets, with a big island in the middle.

Anyone want to share their pictures of stained cabinets with light floors and light walls.

Here is our stained island with travertine floors. I love the travertine with stained cabinets. The wall can be painted any color so I don't think you have to worry about that.

Just a thought - why don't you get your cabinets unfinnished and paint them yourself? Thats what I am planning on doing. Since this is a beach house, you could paint them by hand with a brush, and the brush strokes will give that beachy/cottagy feel. Or for fairly reasonably you can get an air sprayer for use with your air compressor that will give that smooth professional finnish (thats probably what they use anyway). I am hand painting mine, but my father really wants me to let him air paint them because he loves it so much.

If it helps I think your stained cabs look good with your travertine floors. But I do think it would look fabulous white (but I know thats not helping)

Hi Stretchad, there is a post on this forum titled "Any regrets choosing dark hardwood floors?" posted by peemps -- it is long, but toward the end there are photos of dark and dark --pretty look. I found a link by searching "classic kitchens dark hardwood" on Google.

Regrettably, that is not my kitchen. It is one whose colors I tried to replicate, with results so bad (this is how I know how wrong colored stains can turn out) that I had to go another direction completely . The kitchen is by Timeless Kitchen Design. They have a web site and a blog, and even a proprietor -- Kevin Ritter -- who may be able to identify the hardware. For anyone who might yearn to have one of his wonderful kitchens, forum member honeychurch has posted here and on a blog about her experience. The irony is that the photo that so won my heart is actually somewhat distorted from the original, which is slightly warmer in its coloring. The entryway has basically no natural light. The hallway is sort of an open hallway...a bit hard to explain...but it gets light from a 5' opening to the living room which has large windows, and then it opens into an eat-in space which has some natural light. The other issue is that we're having a built-in with a bench and coat hooks added in the entryway, and I was planning on having the shelves be painted the same color as the walls.

Help! What white goes with creamy trim and beigey travertine floors?

I went through this same process and tried dozens of paint with SW Creamy trim. Anything with an LRV higher than 60 enhanced the yellow undertones of Creamy. I have Revere Pewter lightened 25% (LRV about 58) in a south facing room and it looks nice. I used RP lightened 50% in a bathroom with Creamy trim and the trim looks more obviously cream and not white. I think about painting the trim and doors a brighter white every time I walk in that bathroom. The only lighter color that seemed to work was creamy walls. If you find something that works, please share!

Judeydel - thanks for the pic..its helping...

htracey - besides not really being that talented...this is new construction, and we are on a time frame. I am considering giving up some of our fancier features (mainly my ceiling to floor 44inch corner pantry) to afford the paint them white. It really won't be the same kitchen with out white cabs...
