Are you asking if those backsplash tiles would make a good backsplash with the other finishes? I think they may be "too close but not matching"... I really like the color of the cabinets. Maybe you could find a very pale green. Have you looked at Complete Tile Collection? They have tons of colors.

Can you share some details? What is the backsplash material? Looks like your counters are Torquay? The green is the cabs. What is the other swatch?

The backsplash is pillow shaped marble subway. The counters are Torquay. The two swatches are the cabinet colors - green (perimeter) and greige/white (island).

I wouldn't do real marble next to the Torquay. It will just accent the Torquay as fake marble, rather than having the Torquay just look nice on its own.

Was going to say the same thing. Would not pair the marble with a look-like-marble counter.

In terms of the colors in them both, they may match, but it will excentuate the differences in real vs. not real.

If you were doing another type of quartz counter ... say something more uniform or even a little mottled (like Pebble), you could probably do a marble BS.

Or look at 1929's kitchen. She did lovely green cabs like yours with Corian (marble looking) counters and a beautiful white lantern tile for BS. So pretty!

I didn't really get Torquay because I ever wanted marble. But I do think I want a backsplash that's pretty continuous with the Torquay in terms of color. And I guess that's marble? But now I guess using marble makes my Torquay look like fake marble. Which it isn't, IMO.

Hate to say it... I know you've had lots of difficult decisions, but I'm not a fan either. What would you think of glass? Or, tile with some variation in color but not marble. Unfortunately I agree that it competes with, not complements, your counter. :( Sorry.

I have had trouble finding a ceramic with some definition that matches the Torquay. I like the 3D look of that marble above. All the bevel subway I've found are not the right color or ridiculously polished and I don't really like shiny at all either.

Cottonpenny- would you consider a stone beveled edge subway tile that picks up the color of the veining in your Torquay? I can't find a picture on line but I know I saw a sample at our local dealer and I can send a picture tomorrow.

Where did you find your sample of the pillow edge marble subway- it is beautiful and might work with our soapstone counters. Sorry to ask when it doesn't work well with your counters...hope that's ok! I promise to post that pic of the stone if it's something you think might work.

I'm not a tile person at all (for any area that may get wet or dirty),lol! But,I think your choices look pretty together! Who is gonna come to your house to police the finishes you choose anyway? If they match in person as good as they do on my monitor I say get what makes you happy and don't stress over it.

I assume the OP wants to know whether the materials look good together, or he/she would've simply put up a Gene Simmons tongue mosaic and may devil take the hindmost.

Torquay does not look good next to real marble. There is a lack of depth and lack of true randomness that become excruciatingly apparent when you see large stretches of them together.

What about a Torquay backsplash?

All Torquay is certainly an option.

But there are lots of matte tiles out there from basics at Daltile on up through the pricing scale. There are plenty of matte or semi-gloss options out there.
