BM color close to EK Mustard Seed?

I really don't want to have to order my paint, but I love the pictures I've since of EK Mustard Seed. Does anyone know if there's a BM or SW color close to it?

I just did a search and looked at some pictures. Due to light they vary quite a bit. In some it reminded me of BM's Chestertown Buff and others of Desert Tan which is sort of similar to SW's ever popular Blonde.

I love mustard seed too!! Not easy to get around here either.
check out BM's Aura line.. "honeymoon" looks gorgeous and very close (to me).... I am going to get a sample pot, and if it has the same look/ tone, I may do the kitchen in that. there is a picture of it on here, someone has honeymoon..if only my brain would remember what post..when I saw the picture, it looked really close... I will try and locate the picture, if I find it, I will post it, I actually want to see it again myself.

Yup! First in my area also! Ordering was an easy process. Find your local ICI store on their website first. As already mentioned, be sure to allow enough time. The day before painters arrive is not always the way to go. I learned that the hard way. I called Ellen's office and gave them the number for the closest ICI store to me. They called it in, but the store did not have the finish of paint in their store and had to get it from another store. That took a few days! Other than that, it was very easy! Just plan out a week in advance and you should be fine, just in case. Hoyamom, I read how EK recommended the EG for your rooms? I think you will be very happy, but I don't blame you for waiting to see the new colors. Let us know how they are!

Okay, so I just kinda threw up all over the one-coat of paint thread so this may seem contradictory in some sense but it's not. I can tell ya the best way to cheat with full spectrum paints. Having it color matched isn't the secret, the trick. Matching FS colors is an exercise in futility. It never works out well and it usually takes more time, money, paint, and effort then just buying the stuff straight up and right off the bat. I don't like to suggest this method I'm about to share with you, but if the budget is about every last penny and the extra few bucks for FS are just.not.there, this is what you can do. Have the FS color matched as best they can. Gustavian Gray will, I promise you, throw them into a paint-color-matching conniption fit. (Definition of conniption fit: "sometimes a person having a conniption fit is reduced to stutters and incomprehensible epithets.") Gustavian Gray is one of THE MOST difficult EK FS colors to match. Mushroom might be in second place. Here's the trick. You do all the base coats with the close FS match in the cheaper per square paint. You do the last, full, robust, perfectly executed final top coat with the real deal, hi-test full spectrum color. It's not going to save you oodles and gobs. It will literally save a few pennies. But I've been there. I've been there when the paint/color budget was parceled out down to the last penny. If the choice is to either jerry-rig FS or not get to live with FS at all, then the cheaper undercoats of paint is a reasonable and efficient plan of attack. Two full coats of the real-deal full spectrum paint is, of course, what I prefer, strongly recommend investing in for the quality of your environment, and the way I specify full spectrum paint colors.

SC Girl -- ICI Dulux does not have Ellen Kennon's swatches. You can only get those from Ellen herself. Check out her website -- EllenKennon.com -- to get the info you need to contact her. She is incredibly helpful. You can contact her by phone and e-mail. You'll order your paint samples from her -- actual paint, painted on a card so you can see the real color, rather than a photo of the color. Then, if you want to try the paint on a sample piece of wall, poster board, etc., you can order small pots of paint from her and she'll send those to you. If you like her paints, you'll order the paints directly from her, pay her, and she calls in your order -- along with the color mixing directions -- to ICI Dulux, and you'll go to ICI to pick up the prepared cans of paint. I painted my whole house, walls and ceilings with EK colors. I've lost track of the number of compliments I've received on the colors. After living with them for nearly 5 years, I still love the colors, and relish the feeling of being wrapped in color in my rooms. I've used Mustard Seed in LR and DR, Citrine in DR & Family Room, Shrimp (which I LOVE!) in bedrooms, Terracotta Sand in basement, and Honeysuckle in an upstairs hallway to brighten it up. No matter how close the BM or SW color looks like in one lighting scenario SW or BM cannot duplicate EK. Why? Because EK (as is Citron paint from Tucson) is full spectrum paint which has 7-8 pigments while SW and BM have maybe 3 pigments. EK paint has a depth that the others could never achieve.

Yes, I found it and I can't believe I didn't save the pictures the 1st time. I guess I was thinking more about your kitchen at the time instead of mine :) I like it alot. Have you tried a sample of it? Did you ever order a sample of Mustard Seed? I originally wanted to go with Concord Ivory, but now I'm thinking more gold and less yellow. I don't know why I'm even thinking about it when I promised myself no more projects right now :)

I like it very much my self. I havenÂt seen the two colors side by side, but to me, itÂs very close in color. I didnÂt get a sample of either one yet. The holidayÂs were so busy, I put everything aside . After we get all the Christmas stuff put away, I will start with my winter projects. I love your bathroom, you really did a fantastic job! What are you doing with your paneling? Did you start, or are you finished and I missed it? You work hard Laurie!!

Do you have a BM near you? That would be greatÂ let me know if you get a s ample of honeymoon (or mustard seed) and visa versa. I think you will beat me to it..lol

Ree - Yep, I was staying pretty busy for a while there, but I've lost my motivation. I did finally decide on a paint color for the entryway and DH is painting it today, because he knew I probably wasn't going to get it done any time soon. He was doing the cutting in when I got home from work yesterday and the first thing he said when I walked in the door was that he hated the color. I ended up going with the Woodstock Tan. Hopefully it will look better when it's completely done (fingers crossed). He would probably kill me if I started another project right now. I was going to ask some opinions on my kitchen, so I'll make a separate post for that.
