GE gas Range or Frigidaire gas Range

I am re-posting this message with a different subject line, in hope for getting someone to reply.

I am going through one of the most stressful time of my life....Kitchen remodel! Of all the things to decide Range seems to be the toughest. I was told that Frigidaire is a company with the worst customer service and GE is supposed to be better. I will be paying $250 more for GE for the name and for the warming drawer (which I might not be using so often).

I am looking for some advice as to, what to buy. I do not want to spend more than $1,200.

I just purchase FGGF3054KF from a local appliance store for $899. My mom also purchased the same model.

I wanted a freestanding gas range with 5 burners and a convection oven for under $1000. FGGF3054KF was the best fit for me and seems to offer the most options in the under $1000 price range. I also prefer the look of this range when compared to GE ranges. The GE Profile line has weird rounded oven windows.

FGGF3054KF does have the chicken nugget button that people seem to hate - but whatever - IMHO it is a great stove with a great price. If you search the appliance forum for this Frigidaire gas ranges, you'll find a lot of people complaining about the chicken nugget button.

Not sure if you are considering Maytag but FYI, their stainless steel handles are plastic with gray paint. Really tacky looking.

When is a sale not a sale? When you buy something that isn't what you really want or need. Ordinarily, this would be the point where I say they all get hot and you have a budget, so stick to it. And I'm very anti credit card. But in this case I think there's a real safety issue. The Frigidaire might be perfectly fine under ordinary circumstances, but what about extraordinary ones? What if you have a grease spill and there's a flare up. You won't be able to shut off the stove!! What if you're cooking up a storm and everything is just plain hot? And you have to lean over it to reach the knobs? I think in this case it's worth the extra money for a safer unit and an additional vent hood. Though you could try to talk them into a sale on the hood too. Keep talking. That's how salesmen make sales. You just need to sell the salesman. So, hard questions: Can you really pay off the whole thing before the interest kicks in? Can you set up automatic payments or something so that they never ever have an excuse to charge you interest early? Will you be giving up something else you really really need if you get the better range? One of the few things I, the anti-credit card person, thinks one should take out a loan for (i.e., using credit) is a necessary appliance. A range is a necessary appliance. A safe range is a more necessary appliance. Zero interest is very attractive, if you can and will actually pay it off. Do you have $150/mo. to put toward it? If you can't pay it off in 18 months, can you afford the interest and get it paid off soon thereafter? If you can afford it, I say get the safer range and separate vent, and be happy.

I still love it. It is very sturdy and I really like the way it looks. The burners work well. It boils water quickly, but also does a very low flame for simmering. The layout of the burners is perfect and pots never feel cramped. The grates are very sturdy. I’ve used the proof function and baked bread that turned out great. I haven’t used the WiFi connection. My model is all gas, has 6 burners, front controls, a single oven and a storage drawer below. I highly recommend this range.

I was shopping for a slide-in gas range, but in looking at them in person, I preferred the GE because of the burner arrangement and the fact that the top was stainless steel versus the black glass. I haven't bought either yet, but the stainless top is what I'm used to and I've heard the glass is hard to clean.

I don't have gas, but I have had very good experiences with GE cooking products in general...so good that when I remodeled I went with them again...GE Profile. In particular, my electric smoothtop range w/convection oven from the old kitchen (purchased in 1995) was in such pristine condition that when we donated it to our church for a family in need, they couldn't believe it wasn't new! We had no problems with it in the 13 years we used it...and I loved the convection oven!

Originally, I was going to get the GE Profile range w/warming drawer for the remodel but when we found room for wall ovens I switched to a GE Profile electric cooktop & GE Profile Trivection Double Ovens...the cooktop is basic & works fine, but I absolutely love the ovens, especially the upper Trivection (speedcook) oven! (We also got a GE Profile Warming Drawer...a basic model, nothing fancy and it's been great as well!)

As to whether you'll use the WD, you may be surprised how often you use it once you have it!

I bought the Frigidaire Gallery model DGGF3054KF from PC Richards(see the link below).

I have it for 2 months and love it. It also has a warming drawer that I don't use (I store my cookie sheets and meat racks in it). Their Professional series range was nice too, but I loved the silver knobs on the Gallery, so that's the one I got. It's perfect.

My sister has the Frigidaire gas with convection but the slide-in version, and she is very happy with it.

I seriously considered the Frigidaire smoothtop electric version, but I wound up finding a Samsung induction floor model for the price of the Frigidaire. I also liked the GE.

I have the Frigidaire Gallery model DGGF3054KF as well and love it. I paid under $1000 for it from PC richards. It works well and has alot of different features on the panel.

I have a GE cafe all gas and have been happy with it. I got it specifically to get the 5th burner and the warming drawer/2nd oven, but in 6 months of use, haven't used either the extra burner or the drawer oven yet! Hopefully they'll get more of a workout in the colder months when we're not cooking as much on the grill. Anyway, the range is good, oven heats up very quickly, holds temperature perfectly. The burners are good, but I find that the large ones have a very large disc which keeps the flame away from the center of smaller pans -- for some reason my old Thermador cooktop (before they had the star burners) didn't seem to have the same variance in temp (really hot sides of smaller pots right away, cooler in the center). So I have to be more careful to put the smaller pots on the smaller burners. It looks great, cleans up well.
