Help with throw pillow inserts

I love the look of John Robshaw's pillows but not the high price so I had someone sew some cheaper knock-off versions for me. I need to buy inserts for the fabric covers. Should I get feather/down or synthetic inserts? We don't have allergies, so that's not a factor. Would synthetic be more likely to keep its shape over time? Thanks for any help.

Does anyone notice an awful smell that comes from feather/down throw pillows?

Feather inserts can be plumped up over and over/as needed. Synthetic inserts might not have the same ability to retain their shape (not over time). At least, that's what I have heard/read.

FWIW, the down inserts that came with our C&B and West Elm pillows fluff back up very nicely after they've been leaned on or laid upon.

Definitely feather/down. Make your cover smaller than the insert for a better looking pillow. (ie - for a 20 inch insert, make an 18 inch cover)

Hi- I think the navy, rust and cream are great colors in throw pillows, but not as solid color throw pillows. I love prints and texture in throw pillows, and large ones. By texture, I mean velvet, chenille, suede, leather, luxurious trims. Lumbar pillows do nothing for me, but I suppose you should have one for the person whose back needs it. My back needs a very dense, firm foam pillow, no squishy feathers for me! I love the rug, it is great. Here are some ideas. I don't care for light blue at all.

No matter where you buy from be sure you can return. Mixing patterns/colors/sizes and layering is an art lol and the only way to get it right is with experimenting. These are from Etsy (searched boho blue and beige cushions). I agree with Patricia that a new rug would bring the room to another level so here is a view of the room using the rug she suggested... We don't see very much of the rest of the room in the photos you posted but there seems to be a lack of lighting from either table lamps of floor lamps as well as art on the walls. Perhaps you also have room for one or two guest chairs?

I'd just go to Walmart and buy their cheap throw pillows the size you need. If the covers don't come off, then just put the new cover on them.

I've been doing that for a couple of years now and they've held up great. If we nap or lay down on the sofa, we use the throw pillows.

Yes I noticed an awful smell from two of the four toss pillows that came with my special order sofa. (Clayton-Marcus.) The label showed some percentage of down.

I tried airing them on the patio several days - smell never
entirely left so I bought inserts for them.

I only use down inserts. They look so much better. I've never noticed an odor from any of mine. Most come from Pottery Barn, but I've got several that came in pillows that I've put new covers on.

I also use the PB down inserts and love them. I had some covers made by an eBay seller with Chiang Mai and Nympheus fabrics (my favorites!), and did as Tina does: used inserts 2 inches smaller. They look fantastic.
