Looking for advice on 30' gas range (free-standing)
Comments (12)Convection is something I use frequently and would recommend. From what I hear, the warming drawers at this price point are not worth the money/space. Regarding the center burner... If I had a choice, I would rather spend the money on 4 good burners (15k BTU+) than 4-5 mediocre burners, but in this price range, they all seem to be a similar setup (probably built by the same 2 companies). I have a hard time envisioning a decent size griddle getting evenly heated with any of these center burners. The Frigidaire has slightly higher burner output on average, but then there's that CNB to deal with....See MoreDo you have a CC or BS freestanding range on an island?!
Comments (7)It's certainly doable, BUT as cooking products spread upwards in a V shape in all directions from the source, you need a much wider and deeper hood for better capture area, and you need a lot more CFM than you would with a wall location. That means you will assuredly need makeup air, and depending on your location, an ERV as well. Code compliance is becoming MUCH stricter on enforcing these requirements. You will also need a much larger zone of safety around a higher BTU island cooking station. You will want at least 24" to either side and the rear. That's just for cooking safety and doesn't take into account any other functions. If you want to be able to prep beside your range, you will need an additional 36" to one side of the range in addition to the 24", or a 10' island at minimum for a 36" range. That assumes you have a sink behind you that will serve both prep and cleanup functions rather than having a dedicated prep sink. If you want a prep sink on the island, you need to add in another 24" at least. And that assumes no seating across from the burners. If you want seating, add in another 15" in island depth for their knees and then another 48"-60" for the aisle space depending on how much traffic goes through there. Island cooking is certainly doable, but it just requires a lot more space and a lot more $$$ to get it right....See MoreNeed help deciding between free-standing and deck-mounted bathtub
Comments (18)The WetStyle f/s tub has a removable tray that sits across the tub. I like numberjunkie's idea of a shelf or ledge behind the tub for placing items and also like the idea of having the shower wall next to the tub tiled half-way up to have a space for installing a grab bar. WetStyle has an optional shelf that surrounds the tub, but I think it would make it more challenging to get in and out of the tub - would need to hop over the shelf. The drop-in tub I was initially considering was 72"x42" but that would likely not fit, so would need to be 72"x36". This weekend I looked at an open house (new construction) in my area that had a drop-in tub with a narrow space for the deck surround (see attached photo). The deck was tiled on the top and on the apron with white subway tile. I noticed that with the narrow deck space (about 2") and the tub overhang, it would be awkward to sit on the edge of the tub and swing my legs in or out of the tub. Wiithout space for a deck that is wide enough to comfortably sit on, ease of entry or exit may come down to depth of the tub and options for placement of grab bars. The Wetstyle tub is 22" deep; the drop-in tubs are generally deeper, more like 26"...See MorePlans to buy free-standing spa tub - HELP!!!
Comments (7)We just bought our Dynasty Spa - Neptune - Atlantis model with all the bells and whistles!!! and we love it!! We live in Nashville Tn and the spa is manufactured here so we felt very comfortable with our purchase and the history of the company. I think it is the only spa that has a 3 pump system and had the most foot room at the bottom. We shopped around for a while and you really need to get in them and try them out as far as how you sit in them. My husband is 6'5 and this was really the only spa that would accomidate his height and suit me as well. We filled it 2 weeks ago and I have been in it every change I get, the thermostate is set on 93 and its really nice even in this kind of heat. Shop around and I think you will see that this is a very nice spa that is in a leauge of its own. Im not a sales rep, Im just very satified with our choice!! I have the nature2 system to sablize the water. Its a small tube that fits in the filter of your spa and reacts for 3 months. When we get out of the spa I put a cap full of the sani-spa and the chemicals have been good so far. Good Luck...See Morecarree
