We have medium-stained alder cabinets--sort of spice or cinnamon. And our island is a dark reddish-brown. When we picked out a stain for our quarter-sawn white oaks floors, we didn't want something too light or too dark, but we did want a contrast with our cabinets. The floor guy added nutmeg to the stain until we got to the right color. Just know that, if your floor is like ours, different boards will take the stain differently and will be grained differently, giving the floor much variety. We ended up with a floor where the background or main color is just a little darker than our cabinets but the stained grain makes the floor appear darker. Don't forget also that the darker the stain, the more it will show scratches. Good luck!

There are lots of different whites. I'm having medium stained cherry cabs, green granite, and sagey green walls. Stock white - like BM 01 or BM 02, which I have in other rooms, or Muralo White - just looked too stark. I took samples of my wood, wall paint and granite to a paint store - one that sells Muralo,Bruning, etc. They have designers on staff. One of them helped me pick a good off white for the trim, with no charge for the consultation. Sometimes these designers will even make house calls. I think the right shade of white or off white could be great with your cherry and oak.

Something my painter did that helped me narrow it down was he sent me to the fabric store to get some samples I liked. Draped them over things, taped them to walls, carried them around for a bit. Then we picked colors from the ones that worked. I wouldn't have painters come in until you are sure. Did you ask them? Many painters have great ideas because they have seen it all. Good luck!

No greige or beige. You have way too much in all these tones already. Consider a light green - perhaps BM "Silken Pine" or one with a bit more "sage" such as Farrow & Ball's "Green Ground". You need some "cool" with a bit of color for this.
