Please show me your travertine look porcelain tile!
Comments (33)Woven wooden shades would add a really nice texture to your room. You're right, I have a pair of double hung windows behind my tub. I've just ordered cordless cellular shades that will be 2 on 1 headrail and have the top down/bottom up feature for privacy and a view of the trees outside. I literally have to climb in my tub to adjust the windows or shades so they probably won't be moved very often. I'm planning to accent with purple so I'm hoping to find fabric for a valance to tie it all together and bring a softer texture into the room. You must be so anxious to be in your new home. I've never built a house before but I'm sure it would be both exciting and overwhelming....See MorePlease show me your diamond patterned backsplash
Comments (9)We are thinking of putting the dots on the diamond as well. Not sure yet. What do you think? So long as you realise it's going to be a WHOLE lot more work, or if you're having an installer do it, it'll cost more for the installation, then I'd say go for it. The reason I say that is if you set the tiles diagonally and then the dots square, you can set a jig on the saw, and then just clip the corners on the tiles you need to, one after another, without having to bother to measure each and every tile. If, however, you set the dots diagonally along WITH the tiles, now, not only do you have to measure to make sure you center the tiles on the joints between the field tiles, but then each of the four tiles for each dot is now also an "L" cut. The time just to cut the pieces in preparation for installation will extend exponentially. All that being said, though, I can understand why you'd do it. It WOULD look better, if you're willing to spend the time or the money....See MoreI'm so done with this kitchen. Please help me with backsplash.
Comments (27)April - Love your countertop and your cabinets and can't wait to see the final reveal. When you finally find the tile - it will be love at first sight! I really wanted a glass backsplash. I had those same tiles in my kitchen plus others. I also considered back painted glass but the cost was way out of budget. I also could not get the glass to talk to my kitchen no matter how hard I tried! Some others to consider - there were a number of Jeffrey Court tiles that were close seconds. I also loved Heath tiles but was too far away to find a match (I was too embarrassed to ask them to send me a third set of samples especially when I said I didn't want crackle and ended up with crackle LOL) Here is a picture of the Grazia Rixi Crema that I used It is probably a bit lighter than this picture but my little camera had difficulty with the light. I also put small accents above the cooktop. The accent row is called Beach - not sure who actually makes it but it came from the Tile-Shop (not Tile Shop) Again - probably a bit lighter in real life. PS - Ellen - I think you are my "fan" club! (of course, you have the same tile as well!)...See MorePlease post picture of your backsplashes
Comments (90)The photo in the post above is my friend's kitchen and this one is mine. It was taken before the new granite installation. Looks better now but I don't have a ready photo to upload so just thought I'd post this one because the back splash is the same : ) It looks pretty plain in this photo but it's Sonoma Tile and was expensive and had many tiles to choose from in shape and accents. I was not happy with the tile installation and thick grout lines, another long story.. Anyway, I just wanted a more plain splash. I don't have as much on the counters now that the busier granite is in. Also, have repainted since this photo, gotten full window 3 1/2 " shutters, new table and chairs and drapes. Yikes, this was awhile ago!!...See Morepeytonroad
