Carrara marble with fir floors

We found fir floors in our 1937 kitchen under all of the other flooring. How do you think white cabinets with carrara marble would look with fir floors? I am thinking it will look good but would love to hear all of you opinions. Thanks in advance.

What style are you going for? I think the combo will work beautifully with just about anything though.

Take a look at travertine in a light ivory. It seems to go with everything. I have travertine on my bathroom floor, shower, and tub deck, then used crema marfil marble for an accent. It looks serene and beautiful! If you use the 18" travertine tiles, cut to 9 x 18 for the tub surround, there won't be that many grout lines. Get the installer to use "butt joints" in the tile so the grout lines are just teeny. Another alternative would be to go with a black and white theme.

You are correct as there is no difference in slipperiness between honed and polish marble as it is the numerous grout lines which provide traction. I have polished marble dog bone tile in one bathroom and honed marble basket weave in another tile. I chose honed marble in my master bath because I wanted a slightly softer look and also since the master would be getting more use, any etching is less obvious in honed marble. As to whether the specific tiles look good together, I think you need to provide more information.

Walnut looks great with Carrara marble and grays. It has a black, not red, undertone. Do a search on Houzz of “walnut and marble” and you will see. Enlarge the photos to see the marble near the sink.

I would consider that a HUGE gift....you think original to the house?? WOW! Sounds like they would look great with what you are planning, I think warm, inviting touch that sounds in keeping with your house. I would refinish/save those in a minute if you can.

I think it will look great. I've got heart of pine floors with carrara countertops in my own kitchen, and love them! I think the fir is not too different from the heart of pine.
