pull down faucets-how do you like the handles?

Do you prefer the ones with the separate handle or the ones where the handle is attached to the spout? I wanted the kind attached to the spout but then I read that sometimes it's easy (especially for kids) to not turn it off all the way. Do you have/like a separate handle like this one:

Mine has the integrated handle. I had a separate sprayer in my previous home and much prefer this one for the convenience and easy access. I am not sure I see how that would be more likely to be left on though. Both require a specific act to turn them off regardless of where the shut-off mechanism is located.

Mine is integrated with the handle in the front - even DH doesn't make a mess of the counter! (now, if only he didn't have to wet his hands to operate the soap...)
He has no trouble turning it off - granted he is a "grup" but in many ways is like a kid...
I am sure others will chime in.

I still love this one, weird as it is (the spray hose lies atop the gooseneck, and the neck itself has a sort of channel (for lack of a better word) on or in which the hose rests and blends in like a chameleon. When you want to use the hose you just pull it down from the nozzle clip (again, for lack of the proper word) and you're free to roam around the sink with it. When you're done, you just place it back over the neck and clip snap it back into place at the nozzle area (the nozzle is part of the hose so hose and faucet are one in the same). Sounds crazy but I've used the floor model of the bridge style deck-mounted 10" one and it was FUN to use and looked and felt very high-quality. It's solid stainless steel and made of replaceable parts. I.e. if you got tired of the hose version you could just replace the gooseneck with a standard gooseneck. The polished stainless steel looks like a cross between polished chrome and polished nickel because it's warmer than chrome (not so blue) but not as yellow as nickel. Not sure I'll get it though cause I want a wall-mounted one and I think the wall-mounted sizes are either too big or too small for my space. :( We'll see... See below for link to the 10" (19" high in total) version of the single lever style. They also have the shorter 8" version (14 3/4" high) and they also have the traditional deck-mounted bridge style in a couple of sizes as well as the wall ones and mono blocks (click on Steam Valve Originals once in there to see everything). We didn't get that done before we moved in, and because we also have no desk yet, that area of the counter is piled with the "to be filed" stuff:(

michoumonster, doing "the filter on the cold line side with a one handle faucet" = YEs, "it is all filtred water and not a mix of unfiltered and filtered". So, no, "even if you choose to do cold only, it always comes out a little mixed", no, not true. If anyone wants to do replicable experiment, to test it out all by themselves, here is what they can do: unscrew the faucet's hot water hose, under the counter. First you will have to stop the flow of hot water, and this can be done if you have a valve at the hot water tank or at the point where the faucet's hot water hose connects to the hot water pipe. Then, your faucet will run with cold only. Now, what happens? Here is what happens. Every time you move the single handle away from the cold-only position, the mixer valve opens the hot water side (a little or a lot), and your pressurized cold water comes flowing out of the hot water hose under the counter. Put a pail under it, and a towel to catch splashes. As you play with the handle, you will see how much water is let through the opening and goes into the pail. In the cold-only position, you get a full flow of cold water and NO leakage of cold water onto the hot side of the mixer valve. Thus, using logic, you deduce that there cannot be any flow when the hot water is attached and "trying" to get through. I repeat this in other words: pressurized hot water is not allowed to mix with pressurized cold water, when the handle is in cold-only position. If you happen to reverse the hoses under the sink, you will see the mixer valves also separates hot water fully from the cold water stream, when the handle is over to the other side. Hth

I have the Grohe Lady Lux which is a pull out and find it excellent to use (and I do use it with either hand depending what I'm doing with the other hand). We considered the Grohe Lady Lux Cafe for our prep sink which is a pull down and has a very comfortable feel, but it doesn't have a stay on button for the spray - you have to hold the button down to keep spraying. I like to be able to put the faucet in spray mode and use both hands to wash produce under it. So we used the LadyLux Plus for both sinks. The Grohe faucet uses a spring rather than a weight to pull the hose back in. It goes back in very nicely. I hate side sprays. The ones I've had in the past have developed problems and leaks over time and I don't like the clutter.

I definitely wanted integrated. Less to clean around, fewer holes to worry about. I also have my handle in the front, a tip from here if your faucet will allow it, and find it easier to reach with less mess.

Thanks everyone. A couple of reviews at amazon said that their grandkids/kids would leave it dripping and that it wasn't easy to determine the correct 'off' position. I could imagine it since it's on a ball type swivel thing right? I may see if the local Home Depot has the ones I'm looking at in stock, but if I remember correctly they're all mounted way up high where you can only look and not touch.

Those Amazonians need to take less time writing reviews and two minutes to show their kids where "off" is!

Really, it's not hard to tell. If the kids aren't turning them off it's not because they can't figure it out. It's because they're kids in a hurry and not paying attention. We have it happen with the old style knobs that you turn and wrist blades and the garden hose. It's a kid thing. Not a handle thing. :)

I haven't had anything other than single handed for a long time, and will have my new ones put in the front if possible. But either way, I'll have a tapmaster on my prep sink and I'm sure my children are going to love that.

Now that is for sure. While I was looking at faucets last night I saw where someone actually did a review of the reviews. They gave the other reviews 3 stars. They never mentioned the faucet at all.

We have integrated and I think my kids left it at a drip maybe twice in almost 2 years. They are 8 and 10 (ironically it's not the 8 year old but the 10 year old that is the culprit).

On the other hand - it took several DAYS for my kids to stop using the pull down sprayer as a toy. :)

Love the integrated sprayer (I know not your question but I had to add it).
