I have 4 very recent (last 3 years) toilet purchases, from a Jaccuzzi- not worth discussing, to a Kohler (Ingenium, I think), AS and Toto. I think one must distinguish old from new, 5 gal flush from 1.6 from even less... The latter 3 are all excellent. Differences are notable from water spot size, to noise, to clean bowl. BUT I would still buy any of those 3 again, the AS cadet and Toto Promenade are the most similar in function, but the Toto is much more quiet, for certain. I find that MaP thing a little cumbersome to read... antss- yes, studies must show their data: study size, confounders, statistical significance of results, etc., ;-). Where is the p value?!?! And to note, in allll the yeeaars of using CR, which has been very helpful, one does need to understand that the rating is definitely cost related- best value for the dollar. I have purchased things that were top of the list, but definitely not the top product. I have learned. They don't always prioritize the same as I would, and it can be difficult to pick apart that subtlety.

A few years ago, when I was first looking at sinks, I really liked the more square shape of the Franke sink. They weren't selling the V & B model then (that i ever saw), but the Franke had the company name printed right on the front apron of the sink. I wanted a plain front, so I decided against that sink, and got the very lousy Porcher American Standard London farm sink, because the price was good, and it had the same square shape. It chipped/pitted like crazy after 18 months of gentle use (all over the front top lip where it is very noticible) and the company basically said "too bad for you." While looking for a new sink last year, I found the V & B version. I liked it (was still trying to avoid the curves of the Rohl), but the top edges were thinner than the Rohl. After my chipping issues with the Porcher, I wanted the biggest, toughest lips/edges I could find. So I went with the Rohl. Btw, my Rohl is very wonky and crooked, so not without issues. To install it looking mostly level, it won't fully drain! Ah, the price of beauty! (Tho not everyone has this problem.) I have a real love/hate relationship with fireclay sinks. Or maybe I should say that I love them, but they hate me! :-) Francy

I bought this sink (no kitchen even started!) just to look at the features in person. The box states that it is 20 gauge 304 stainless steel. The black plastic gasket is on the rims of the accessories only. The sink itself has two levels around the rim so that the cutting board can sit on top of both the secondary sink and the colander bowls and still slide back and fourth between them. With both bowls in place, there is 6 inches of open space to enable use of the disposal. The second sink seems pretty unique because the 'stopper' is also a drain that allows you to empty it in place. . The sink is imported by Quality Craft (Canada) from China.

when my husband repaired ours, he couldn't find the right seals to replace the worn ones, so he found ones that are very close and seem to work ok for right now. our toilets are also american standard, and unfortunatley all the seals in those are leaking as well. but since our house sat vacant for nearly 2 years perhaps that made the issue much worse, I have no idea LOL. just glad hubby can fix all of these issues himself. caiquemom, I must have missed your link yesterday. I didn't realize that American standard had so many choices! perhaps you can go to a kitchen/bath showroom and look at/handle some various faucets in person? we went to one and it was so nice to be able to touch them and pull out the pull down sprayer to see how it felt. it helped us a lot, and the choice was a lot easier for us after that. we also read a lot of reviews on Amazon etc. and that was helpful as well. good luck choosing a faucet!
