What kind of rug pad for large area rug
Comments (7)I just blithely did a little search for you sue, thinking I would come up with all sorts of options, & I'm really dismayed to discover that the felt pads of yore are....well, just that....yore :( I have several pads made of felt & horsehair that I've had for many, many years - I had a huge horsehair pad that I just keep cutting to fit smaller rugs. And I expect them to last for many more years. Which is why I haven't had to shop for one for a long time. Everything now is synthetic, but the good news is that you can still find synthetic felt pads - hopefully they are no less damaging to your floors than the felt pads are. Still, check out your local rug dealers - the ones who sell area rugs, & see what they have. The problem with most synthetics is that they bond to your flooring & create damage that can be very hard to repair w/o resurfacing. And/or the pad is too thick & the carpet gets dents that turn into worn fiber. And/or the pad does nothing but keep the carpet from slipping & ruin the floor underneath at the same time. BTW, if your carpet is a thick one, you're probably better off w/o a pad. HTH, & good luck!...See MoreViscose rugs - experience with them?
Comments (5)Thanks, My3dogs! I actually had that article open in my browser. Anglophilia, I know... I've never subscribed to the placeholder approach, but these are really pretty and I only need it for 2 years. But that's still wasteful, yes. Ingrid, you reminded me to look at Dash and Albert indoor/outdoor polypropylene rugs so I will do that. Thank you!...See MoreWhy, Crate and Barrel, why? Or, how bad an idea is a wool/viscose rug?
Comments (7)Kristin, like you my preference for rugs is 100 percent wool. Whenever I have a question or need a slap upside the head, I check the rugchick blog. She has these posts about viscose, https://rugchick.com/2018/02/26/viscose-bamboo-silk-banana-silk-art-silk-what-you-need-to-know/ https://rugchick.com/?s=viscose We just moved into our new house and I was reminded how wonderful 100 percent wool rugs are. Our old house had crummy wall-to-wall carpets (selected quickly and thoughtlessly by my husband before we met) that did not like layering -- my Persian and Oriental rugs would always buckle -- so all of my rugs and then the ones I inherited from my late parents have been in storage for 8-25 years, variously in an unheated garage and an unheated storage container in western Canada. They all held up beautifully, and just needed a good beating outside and then a vacuuming. What size rug are you looking for?...See MoreIdea: area rug & fabric swatches for living room redo
Comments (1)Well, first of all we have to consider the area in which you want to put your rug, I can honestly recommend that first of all you check the material from which it is made, check what the marks of the rugs are and that you understand that depending on The wall and decoration should be your rug, for example I bought a rug in DorisLeslieblau it was of the Persian rug style, I bought it a year ago and it is still like new, it is easy to wash and is very resistant, so I would recommend that you you will buy there, it is a good option for excellent quality...See MoreMelanie2012
