Suggestions for white cabinet paint...brands?

I posted here almost two years ago about painting my oak cabinets. I printed the responses for reference. Unfortunately, my kitchen remodel was put on hold when my husband was laid off (we are both teachers and he was called back before the school year began so we were saved!) and this situation put taught us a lot about the need for savings. I recently had a kitchen designer come in for some ideas etc. He basically told me I had thought things out well and knew what I wanted and if he were me he would save my money and do it myself...so I am going to. Anyway, I digress.

Our plan is to do an off white with some distressing (French Country). Our counter tops will be soapstone and our appliances will be stainless. I most likely will do copper or brushed nickel handles. It is a galley style kitchen.

My question is what color off white would you suggest? What have you liked? I know I can spend a lot of time on this, but I know you all have excellent ideas. Additionally, what brands do you LOVE? I have used Sherwin Williams Duration and really liked it, but there may be better products out there.

I'm using the sherwin williams recommended in the tutorial linked below. I copied the list of what this particular guide suggested. I'll use duration on our walls, but I don't think it would be ideal for cabinets.

I am redoing a pantry area using Farrow & Ball Lime White .... and I am also redoing all my woodwork in this paint. Goes on beautifully.

I also used BM Aura for woodwork in my upstairs and the finish on that is equally as nice. But I must say, I like the *whites* of F&B much better and the Aura whites.

Those two brands would be my two suggestions.

As a fabricator, I don't use New Caledonia because it has a tendency to absorb water and get "dark" even when sealed properly. Luna Pearl is a great choice for white cabinets and light floors, Black pearl is also a great choice if you want more contrast. I'd stay away from the yellows, tans just because they have a tendency to look cheaper. If you have any other questions let me know!

The painted cabinets were done 3 years prior to the decision to change the countertops. But it was a rookie mistake. I guess I could have tried to determine what countertop would go well with the already painted cabinets. I love the countertop more than the white cabinets and am about to have them re-painted.

You know I was thinking today once it’s finished I’m going to have to post a photo and I thought nobody is going to even look at my post it’s been so long! So I was going to go with dove wing on all walls and white dove for cabinets, trim, and doors. However! After seeing a photo online the day I ordered the paint, I decided on white dove for everything (matte on walls and eggshell for ceiling and trim). My plasterer should be finishing up this weekend and then I’ll be starting paint. My kitchen cabinets are scheduled to be installed next Friday (hoping I won’t have to delay). I’ll post a picture once I have the paint on and another with the cabinetry.

I had my cabinets painted with BM Satin Impervo. It is holding up very well. It is a very hard finish. Here is the link. The color is White Dove.

I am a big fan of BM paints these days, would try the Satin Impervo Waterborne. Waterbase paints are really getting good! I always go with satin finish - never anything shiny (satin will be nice with the soapstone also). This probably doesn't need to be said but PLEASE make sure your cabinets are super clean, I would even wipe down with mineral spirits, lightly sanded and primed before your paint. Light sanding between coats also. I hate to see the renovation people on TV just slap paint on a wall or cabinet or whatever without doing really nice prep work. Oh no, I am sounding like a parent! I love the BM color Ancient Ivory - it's just a nice warm white - I have it on all the trim in my house. Why not pick up a couple of samples, even a quart and try the colors? You will be putting a lot of work into your project, make sure your color is perfect.
