Wow, that is gorgeous bedding. The red pattern is very intense and busy, and when paired with the black furniture the intensity will be magnified. I would go with an Ivory for the walls. You don't want anything to compete and overwhelm. What are your plans for the flooring for the room? Window treatments?

exactly! My husband has no issues with florals, he has issues with certain colors sometimes, but no rhyme or reason to it as far as i can figure out , lol. My DD on the other hand has always hated florals. So I think it’s a stereotype of “masculine/feminine” to assign prints based on gender. Most people believe in a creator( who is in most cases viewed as masculine/male) who created flowers, right?

agree, nightstands way too small. you have all that dead space. go w/double the size you have now I like how beverly did this. I don't mind the artwork, but it's hung far too high. can it go on another wall in here? here's what I'd do. half drapes like shown, larger black nightstands in this style, larger lamp rug, bench (not exactly this one) and a patterned duvet cover w/pillows (pick something w/a bit of black in them) you don't have to have drapes. but you do need larger nightstands like shown in this pic. if you want white nightstands, then do something this size. i'd also consider a bench of some type at the foot of the bed, and an area rug 2/3 under the bed to break up all of that gray

I would revamp the room I would NOT select a platform bed, I would get the gizmo that allows you to swing out the beds when you change the sheets. Decide if you want one that is tufted or channel upholstered. Then I would take your existing bedroom set & paint all the wood pieces olive green. I would jettison the dated mirror and replace it with a decorative mirror or a piece of art. I'd repaint the room a white paint to keep it bright. Can you get more of the duvet fabric for window treatment?
