Color Gender - does Wythe Blue have one?

With babies we hear pink is for girls and blue is for boys but if we consider ourselves modern thinkers, we eshcew those limitations.

But in the real world, there are just some colors that 'feel' feminine or masculine once we get past the baby thing. Or that's how I feel about some colors, at least!

For those who have used Ben Mo Wythe Blue or are familiar enough with the color to know, is it a gender specific color to you?

Not to me, but I have no kids. It's greenish blue that I have in my entry and going up the stairs, and into my 2nd floor landing.

I have it in my dressing area and master bath. The same color is in my bedding even though bedroom walls are a different color. It's just a very calming, pretty blue-green color.

Hi Honeybasil, I'm sorry the Wythe Blue didn't work out in your rooms... I think it was probably my LR/ DR photos you saw . I have to believe it all depends on the light you have in your particular room. It doesn't look at all baby blue in my rooms... much more of a green-blue. My living room gets sun all morning, and the dining room gets late afternoon light. The color does seem to change throughout the day, which I really like. Looking forward to seeing your Misted Green walls!

Not an expert at all and just off the top of my head. The curves of the chandelier look like they are too much with the curves of the mirror. What do you think of something like the Pottery Barn chandelier linked below? Also I am sorry I'm not familiar with your house. Is it a particular era or style? Bronwynsmon: Thanks for the suggestions. I just looked them up and think that you might be right with the Woodlawn Blue suggestion. Do you think that would be better than a creamy ivory. Oakleyok & Yayagal : Thanks for your imput also. Annie D: Wow, what a beautiful exercise room. That would inspire me to get moving. So is everyone saying that I could keep with this family of pale green/blues or would anyone think the other idea of creamy ivory better. I know I sound so undecided but I have never done rooms in pale colors before. I am always afraid of it looking like a childs room.

Nami, Thank you! Well, to keep things tranquil and serene, if you have white woodwork, you could just go with a soft white or light ivory. I know Pottery Barn has plain, unlined panels that wouldn't be too heavy. I saw them a couple of weeks ago and got them for our dining room. I wanted something that would filter light and not be too heavy looking for the room yet not too sheer. I kind of like things monochromatic in the bedroom but that's just me. You might go to a fabric store and find a nice subtle print. It depends on how dressy you want it to be or how dark. You could also go with the bronzey color of the pillow you see on my bed if you wanted a darker look. I wasn't much help was I?? LOL!

Thanks for responding. I was being purposely vague hoping to get an idea if my son will think this is a 'girly color' !! The new bedding I bought for his room has stripes of that color and some others but is primarily charcoal and light gray. This will be 'revealed' to him at winter break when he comes home. I can buy new bedding if he hates it but I'm not going to repaint so it needs to be versatile.
