do you like pocket doors?
Comments (38)Before my DH bailed, he jury-rigged a metal and glass door between the mudroom and the kitchen. He simply used a normal screen door. He just changed the hardware. Actually he took it off and was going "to get it later" so I just have a hole there, but as always, I can live with it. It's even the kind where the top glass portion slides down, so the screen can be open between the rooms. Someday, I'll put in a regular door. Why would you need kick plates, michoumonster? You never use your feet to shut them... LOL! Also, my doors aren't all that unique, actually. I love the doors like rhome has, with the 5 panels. I've found old ones at the reuse centers that even have 6 panels. To be honest and fair, my existing doors are just fine. Solid, exterior, modern 6-panel maple doors. I just don't like them. In the name of not settling, I am going with the older doors with more character. I'm even saving to have some of them dipped (I know, careful of veneers, glue, etc.) so I can fix them up without ruining them. At this point, most are lying against the living room wall. I love them, though. :) gypsy_jazz, what do you use the the guide? I'm in a position to install these doors well, so I want to explore all the options. Thank you!...See MoreCat underfoot - what do you do to keep them out?
Comments (5)Three things have prevented serious "stepping on" injuries in my multi-animal household. 1) The "Multi-pet shuffle". I haven't done a normal walk in my house in decades. I shuffle. I can't step on little toes if my own feet never leave the ground. 2) I bellow "GIT!!!" if they simply won't permit me to move freely. The right "Do it or DIE!" tone of voice generally gets them all moving in the other direction. 3) If I should move in a manner that lands an animal foot under my own, I'll take a fall before I'll put weight down on the foot. So far, so good. I have no idea how long all of our luck will hold out, though. Laurie...See MoreHow long do you keep your teeth out?
Comments (25)After spending $6,000, my dentures still do not fit well, upper or two different lowers. I have read and been told that lowers or the hardest to get right. The uppers make me whistle, and I finally got implants for the lowers. I'm not spending any more money on dentures, so I do the best I can with what I have, which means I can't eat certain things. I have to use a lot of the "glue." I will say they look nice. I usually soak them overnight and eat something soft for breakfast before I put them in. I am not a happy camper, denture wise. Funniest thing I ever heard about false teeth. My friend works at a hospital and happened to be in the room with some family members whose brother had died. One sister commented that John's mouth didn't look right. Other sister looked closer and said his dentures didn't look right. First sister said, John doesn't wear dentures! Oops, seems a nurse had put somebody's dentures in John's mouth! I have made a joke about my situation. I ask my relatives if eating all that "glue" has made me look fat. ;-) Sue...See MoreWhat Do You Suggest To Keep Fresh Cut Grass Smell Out Of House?
Comments (6)Sophie, I had someone replace the rubbery seal (weatherstripping) around the door, but that didn't seem to help. I am going to see what other types they sell. I react to all sorts of things. Perfume smells, fresh cut wood smell, fresh cut grass smells, the smell of people's deodorants, hairspray, laundry detergents.....all sorts of things. My lungs are hypersensitive, plus I get headaches and allergy symptoms, too....See Morebreezygirl
