I like it very much, and I also like the subtleness of your FR rug with it, but how is the size? I liked the paisley better, but this looks great, too! Since you took the time to order two, why don't you wait until the other gets here to decide which one. What did you decide about the CL rug?

I really like the Vanessa - I think it's really pretty in your room. It's softer and less bold than the paisley; I don't know how you are, but personally, I get tired of the more bold stuff faster, so I end up replacing it more quickly.

The Vanessa Blue Duvet you have on your bed - is it a duvet or a duvet cover. Doesn't look very thick for a comforter. Maybe I have duvet and comforter meaning the same thing?

Very pretty! I like both but am leaning towards the paisley based on the Photoshop pic. Like homemaker said, though, it might just be because it has the fluffy duvet inside.

I like the paisley better. It has more vibrancy. You definitely need the puffiness of the filled duvet.

I packed it back up and will wait for the paisley as it's hard to tell from the pictures; then make the final decision. One thing I like about this is though the pattern is a floral, the linen/cotton blend gives it a slightly rustic feeling and the more muted colors don't make it too feminine. So, I may well let my DH make final decision since I like both; but he has to like it also. That is correct that I did not put the insert inside yet. I bought a down comforter at TM that I plan to use, but no point putting it in until I decide on the duvet COVER. Sorry for any confusion as I see the terms used differently. I guess the duvet is the same as the comforter also known as the insert; and this would be the cover.

I wasn't totally sold on the FR rug working there so it's interesting to read several thought it a possibility. I was wondering if I should go with a more tone-on-tone rug, sisal, woven or something like that.

I really do like both- but if I have to choose I have a bit of a preference for the paisley which to me is a bit more uplifting and cheerier. I think the one you have now is totally fine and works well with the rug. The paisley one would not work so well with the rug in my opinion because of the vibrancy (?) of the colors on the duvet and the serene colors on the rug.

I have to ask - when you took it from the packaging did it have a strange odor? As long as they are washable I guess it doesn't matter, but I find some of the new bedding items(comforters and the like) have an offensive odor that is not always washed away so easily. (Sorry for the gross reality check but I am curious).

The rug is a perfect match for both covers. I do prefer the paisley though. It's soft while not being too bold.

If u can take the coverlet off the bed - roll the rug out totally & retake pics of existing Vanessa

Also the Paisley may end up just looking better w/the rug -adding a lumbar pillow w/similar scheme to the wing chair would add interest as well.

It is very pretty and I also like the cotton/linen blend. It will be dry clean only, so keep that in mind. Washing it would shrink it not to mention the wrinkles! I would pick up on the yellow/mustard tone in a throw or accent pillow. That would really bring it to life!The washed basketweave pillow cover in fall leaf might be a good one!

jejvtr: I put the rug back in my FR, because I really need a rug there. I really don't know what rug to shop for--for the family room or the bedroom so will just wait until the other duvet comes in and then decide. I may need to start a separate post about that.

kmcg: Actually, the linen/cotton blend is washable as the PB salesperson told me so. She just said the fabric is a little more delicate so don't wash frequently. I do like the idea of adding another 1-2 accent pillows once I nail down the other elements. I was thinking of adding in a touch more lavender to tie in with the botanical prints.

jbrig: Thank you so much for the compliments on my MBR. It's not as spacious or luxuorous as many I see posted here and the big sliding door which faces out to yard creates privacy concerns, but I work with what I have.

jejvtr: Thanks for the rug suggestions. We must have similar taste as I have been eyeing several of those same rugs for sometime now. My feeling, though, is as the majority of the rug will be going under the bed with about 30" extending beyond on all three sides, I should try to keep the rug cost down ($200-$300 price range). One option would be to use the RF rug (which I paid about $300 for) and get a better quality rug for the FR where I can justify spending more $$ since it's heavily used. Other option if the above rug does not work or is too busy, would be to get a tone-on-tone or sisal rug. I was even wondering if I should visit a carpet store and look into getting one bound with some ivory tone-on-tone. I like the idea of adding the sisal for an organic feel, but my concern is it may look too blah with my oak floors. Here is that same rug in the FR.

It's a tad smaller than I'd have preferred as it's not quite an 8x10, but a 7.5'x9.5'. I think the 6" would really help in the width because one of the legs of the club chair always seems to be shifting off the rug and I don't like it. I've tried rotating the rug, but I felt it divided the room too much. I've also wondering how a 9x12 would look. What would you suggest? I keep going back-n-forth if I should replace this rug and just move this to my BR.

I love the Vanessa. The colors are beautiful and look great in our room. As for the rug, I think you need something with a bit more color. It looks okay, but offers very little IMO

For a long time I was searching for green rugs; but I think it blends too much with sectional and red has always been problematic due to the paisley chair. The blue one above is interesting though there is no other blue in the room; however it doesn't look to be a cool tone and has all the rust, sage, and gold that are there now. It's also 8'2" wide... a full 8" wider so would solve my chair problem. I've also been checking Overstock, but pics are not as good as with RugsUSA. I prefer handknotted--one tufted rug in the house is more than enough!

Then that would mean the FR rug goes in MBR. While may not be first choice, I figure most of it is going below the bed so as long as there is no clash.... So I would then make final duvet choice which works with that rug.

IF we are voting...I like the paisley better. Not sure how to put my "why" into words. It's just the feeling it gives.

When is the paisley duvet supposed to arrive?

I LOVE the Vanessa duvet. And I think it makes the most sense to use your LR rug under your bed and get a new one for the LR. (so easy for me to spend your money huh :-) )

Do you watch that new show Mike & Molly? I noticed on her bed on the show, she has the Vanessa duvet.

I think for me the paisley looks much more inviting but than I realized that the paisley photoshopped one has no footboard and you see more of the duvet.
I think either one will be great!

The paisley duvet is scheduled to be shipped 11-24, though I've been told it could possibly arrive sooner. Meanwhile, I'm giving serious thought to what I want to do about the rug. Vanessa euroshams not due until early Dec. but not a big deal waiting for that.

I love the Vanessa and it goes well with your curtain (green and gold). I am partial to that one as it has color without being too busy. I have a calmer duvet and a busier quilt for summer and while I love both, I tend to prefer the calmer print since it makes the bedroom feel more serene in winter. In this case the Vanessa has a calmer "feel" to it. I think people might have responded differently had they seen it with the comforter inside. That threw them off in favor of the paisley. I don't think you can go wrong with either since I have 3 pieces of bedding from PB and all hold up well. I have one with the linen blend and it held up well for 5 years now with washing.

scanmike: That is one of the things that draws me towards the Vanessa Blue is that it is more serene. It's not just that it doesn't have the insert yet, but my pics are not as sharp, bright as the ones online; however, in my other thread that natal linkss I also had lots of votes for the paisley. Hopefully, that comes in soon so we can compare apples-to-apples. My gut feel though, is that it will be a difficult decision and can't go wrong either way. That is good to know about your positive experience with the linen blend as I do want to wash occasionally. I figure by five years, I'll be ready for a change anyway. My other one is dry clean only and scratchy front; hence why I keep it folded down and now want to replace it. I can't wait to start using my down comforter inside!

Valinsv, what do you think of the Vanessa Blue fabric? I purchased the duvet off of ebay and found it to be scratchy. I washed it a few times but still the same. Just wondering if yours feels different.

Looking at the two rugs you linked to, I really like them both but I think the blue would maybe clash with your FR since there's no blue. I really like the 2nd one but see what you mean about lacking color. I think it would be a safe choice though.

kellyeng: The fabric is certainly corser with a more rustic feel/look to it than the paisley. I would not go so far to say it is scratchy though. I did read under the PB reviews that some mentioned that--washing is supposed to improve it. One review suggested if you like to put your arms over the bedding, it may not be the best choice. The underside was soft, though.

Dee: Thanks. It's almost it. The one I am looking at is ivory/black and the one you linked is ivory/blue, though the blue looks black on my monitor. I really like that rug and was suspecting it was a Safavieh and even checked their website but could not find it there. I just had a 10% from Overstock that expired last week. Problem is the coupons sometimes are only for a few days--so hopefully with the better pics, etc. I can get some more feedback and be ready when the next coupon comes. I do wonder if I could use your coupon if you are not. Is it just a code? If you feel comfortable, you could email it to me and I could try it out without ordering it.

I found it on the Safavieh website. Just not under the Oushak rug collection. O must do that on purpose to make it difficult to track down what an item is. Wonder why they don't just advertize the manufacturers, etc. OK, I really want this rug now. I just have that feeling I know it is right, don't have to write a post to ask or vote on it. I'll have to see if my DH will agree. He did agree sometime ago we should replace the shedding rug so hopefully, he won't choke at the cost. I ordered the O rug for my FR today so now plan to use the FR rug in the MBR. DH barely agreed to this purchase, no way I can convince him for a different MBR rug so duvet choice now needs to work with the FR rug going under the bed.
