Final Vote.. I've Narrowed Down Banquette Fabrics
Comments (90)I am curious as to how much fabric you needed for the cushions? I always have this fear that when I love a fabric that by the time I get around to ordering it it will be out of stock. I am very tempted to guesstimate how much I would need and order while the going is good! Looking forward to seeing the final result :)...See MoreHow to measure for and order banquette cushions
Comments (3)If the nook is completed (including stain or paint) you should select an upholsterer who will come to your house and give you his or her opinions and options on the cushion construction. A setup like Annie's is typical, nice looking, and comfortable. You could also have the cushions upholstered to the bottom and top benches, with the fabric stapled over the fill and staples hidden by welting, or,you could have both cushions loose and not attached, with the back cushion's bottom edge resting on the seat cushion, and the top of the back cushion attached to the frame by Velcro or snaps. Alternatively, the back cushion could be made in a wedge shape that narrows at the top, which would keep it in contact with the banquette itself. I have also seen the back cushions suspended from decorative straps over the back of the frame, where they hang down but do not touch the seat cushion. There are many cushion arrangements and the upholsterer/ fabricator will have either pictures or drawings to show you so you can choose the one you like best and that suits your space and fabric best....See More2LittleFishies Banquette for Yellow Kitchen... CHECK!!!
Comments (95)Fishies - yes, that helps quite a bit. Our banquette seating won't be nearly as beautiful as yours - we're going a bit more utilitarian and having storage drawers under the seating and we won't have the lovely curve that you do - ours will be L-shaped. I've been struggling with how much the high-density foam (HDF) will wind up compacting down when we sit on it, so it's hard to decide how many inches is enough. I've read that the dacron overwrap doesn't really add to the overall height when sitting - it's purpose is to make everything fit smoothly around the HDF. Hard to decide if 3" or 4" foam is the best bet...but if you think you have 3" and it's comfortable, I'm thinking that I'll go that way. Good warning about the table. With the curve you have, it probably would be very difficult to get a standard table to work. Although we won't have the curve challenge, we're leaning toward having a table made anyway...we're hoping to do a live edge slab table - we fell in love with some that we saw at the resort we vacationed at and I've been just slightly obsessed with them ever since. Thank you for the help. Every time I see pictures of your kitchen, it just makes me smile - your kitchen is something that I'd never have the foresight to put together, but it really is lovely and inviting. Looking forward to seeing your table when it gets finished....See MoreLeather pants stained my white banquette cushion!
Comments (7)"Crocking" is the term for dye in a fabric that rubs off on other things and leaves its . . . ahem . . . calling card. Blue and red dyes can be bad about this, too. Have your told your sister about her pants? She needs to be careful about where she wears them, as it will likely happen to other surfaces, sort of like a brown-dye-typhoid-Mary, spreading the "joy". I doubt she would want to ruin upholstery everywhere she goes. This post was edited by Cavimum on Thu, Dec 20, 12 at 9:55...See Morecaminnc
