Oooh, i did just this in my kitchen. Experimented a few different ways. GreenDesign is absolutely right - if you just lighten it by telling the guys to mix in 50% less of the colorant - you get a very different colour. RH-SS is mixed in a creamy or something base - not a white one, so the creaminess of the base manifests more than it does in SS. Result is a sort of glassy, celery colour - very nice, actually, but not reminiscent of Silver Sage. Since, not what I was looking for and I wound up using that in another space. However, mixing the paint with 50% of white yielded a colour that was RH Silver-Sage-only-lighter. So, all that said, I'd recommend a couple of options: (1) try mixing white paint with RH-SS till you have the shade you like and then have the shop chaps colour match the result. (2) Restoration Hardware's Silver Sage line now has deeper as well as lighter colours than when I did my kitchen. Do try and take a look at "Pale Silver Sage" as well as "Pale Silver" to see if those pass muster with you. (3) You might also want your paint chaps mix the RH-SS colour in the same base at half concentration and see if you like the result. As mentioned earlier, it isn't really Silver-Sage's paler sibling so much as it is say, RH's "Sycamore Green". Good luck. Silver Sage is a very nice colour and 6+ years after, I'm still appreciating it.

If you lighten or darken a color, change its dimension of value, the intensity of the chroma (or color) changes and that can also effect its overall hue. So silver sage for example could shift from a green-blue to leaning more blue. (I don't know that - just making it up for discussion sake.) Ellen Kennon mixed Silver Sage full spectrum. She calls it H2 Ah. Full Spectrum color mixes are a good fit for low light rooms. So, that's another option.

If you take an original SS chip and compare it to a Gray Wisp chip, there is zero discernable difference. A sample pot of SS from RH and a quart of Gray Wisp mixed in interior Regal Matte using the computer formula for GW from the computer and there is no discernable difference between SS and GW. Paint out a full room with SS from RH and, again, GW from BenM in Regal Matte and there is no discernable difference. Given those very specific circumstances and I would absolutely call GW a *match* for SS. Aura Matte works as well as Regal Matte.

Let's see: BM Crisp Khaki 234 BM Greenbrier Beige HC-79 BM Ocean Beach 958 BM Natural Linen 956 and of course classic simple fresh white! :) Our master bedroom is painted in RH SS -- and it is the most versatile color we have ever used! :)
