Suggestions for wall colour please

I want to repaint this bedroom. The bedding and drapes are staying. What colour would you paint the walls?

Are you looking for color or neutrals? How about a slate blue (like a grayish blue) that is in the bedding? Like BM Beacon Gray. It would look nice with the wood and your beige drapes. Are there purple tones in your bedding? You could also do a taupe that has some gray/purple undertones like SW Truly Taupe.

I feel your pain, having gone through this myself in the recent past. I agree that stayong with lighter colors is wise, there are so many wonderful off whites. I finally picked SW Shoji White basically by closing my eyes and pointing at it! Fortunately it worked out : ) I've painted that color throughout and am picking one or two other walls to highlight in richer color. However, 3 of the LR walls are shoji white and the trim will be the same color--very 50's vintage! I'm really glad I didn't go with a grey toned off white like grey wisp, since my house, like yours, doesn't have overhead pot lights and a grey tone would've been very cold. As Annie says it's hard to tell what undertone to suggest without seeing the colour of your brick and redwood. If they have a really prominent red tone, one idea is to pick an off white with the faintest hint of blush, like maybe Pompeii OC 82 or Antique White OC 83...obviously the undertone would depend on your brick/ I've seem this done and it looks wonderful. However, if you really want a greyish tone, I loved the look of BM French Canvas OC 41 and Classic Grey OC 23. For less of a grey white, I liked Grand Teton White OC 132. Chances are you can't go wrong with an off white : ) Good luck!

What colors do you like? Can you take a photo from further back? I ask because maybe it is the lighting but I am not loving that backsplash with your beautiful cabinets. Your river white granite has some pretty garnets in the color. It might just be the angle and light in that corner that you took the photo. Once a see a better picture I can help with some color ideas... What are the colors of the other rooms? Is there a color that you use in drapes, curtains, chair cushions, table cloth, or any place else. What is the floor color? Does this room open to other rooms? Some ideas...

If you look up army green you will see a variety of colors with that name. Black is neutral, though if you look at several blacks from different manufacturer's placed next to each other they will vary. Northern light is bluish and tends to wash out pale colors. Many designers recommend warm colors in brighter tones to counter northern light—pale pink, orange or yellow whites and grays. Below is a yellowish gray shown with absolute black and one of the army green colors. You may hate it, but the yellow tone in the gray works with the green. Of course, you should always buy a sample and paint it on at least two walls in the room before committing to paint the entire room. In addition to how the color looks in daylight, you should consider how it looks at night. Warm white bulbs with a color temperature of 2700K give off yellow light that affects the colors in a room. Daylight bulbs have a color temperature above 6000K and give off blue light. Bulbs with a color temperature around 4000K give off a more neutral light.

Looking at them in a row, I think I like the medium blue one least. If it were for me, I'd pick the light aqua tone. I can see how the dark blue would be cozy and how the pale neutral would perk it up a little.

A pale, steely lavender. Someone on the Bathrooms forum had a lavender and grey bath, you could search for it. The lavender wasn't too girly, either.

I'm seeing a shade of blue with your bedding...

Maybe not quite the right shade, but something along the line of Benjamin Moore Palladian Blue

Check out SW Truly Taupe & all the other colors on the strip, it is gray/taupe with a purple undertone...

I'd go for a lighter (not pale) aqua-ish color that isn't little kiddish. I know - it's a total long shot trying to find that color!

The reason is because of that gorgeous oak dresser & mirror that you have. I think that a greyed blue hue would set it of fine but I've used a blue similar to what I mentioned and then moved some oak headboards into that room and just remember catching a glimpse of them against that wall color and thinking 'Wow!'. It was Green Blue by Farrow and Ball. Something around that color range would look lovely.

I think that because your bedding and bed are nice shades of a brown neutral, I would play up the blues. This might not be the exact shade you're going for, but I think that you'll find a bolder neutral will be the right thing for the space.
