I had the same problem when I ordered a rug from Home Decoraters outlet, they were having their yearly clearance sale on rugs and I saw one that looked perfect on my moniter but wasnt sure so I ordered the 4x6 first just to check if I would like the colors and when it came I loved it so much I ordered the 8x11, which was a steal at 200 bucks! (shipping was $50) HOWEVER when I got the big rug it was totally different then the smaller one, same tea stained beigey background color as yours(small one was brighter cleaner looking). ANYWAY ,I called right away to tell them I was sending it back but when they asked me if I could live with it if they gave me a 100 dollar credit I said yes. lol, and after many compliments, I really like it. Might be worth a try to call .

If you wish to donate the rug, do so to an organization that will actually use it themselves. Donating items like this to Goodwill or Salvation Army or other thrift shops of their type often means the best stuff is bought for a few dollars by the people who work there. I have seen this time and again; the really nice, new items go directly into the homes of the managers of those places---or their friends' and families' homes. If you really want the money to benefit one of those type places, sell the rug and donate the money. I agree you have no moral obligation to donate the money but I would, most likely, just because I wouldn't feel right about profiting from the situation. Giving the rug away to your mom is a good choice too, IMO.

I hear you with the rug pics and colors. I've ordered 2 rugs from Overstock; one I'm very happy with, the other less so. The one I like was a more expensive, hand-knotted rug that had no feedback. I was however able to determine it was a Safavieh rug and found better pictures elsewhere to see what it looked like. For this rug, the O picture was actually pretty accurate. The other rug, was also a Safavieh rug, but a tufted rug. The reviews were actually right on, but I just didn't fully comprehend how I felt about it. The rug shed horribly for several months and is only now starting to decrease. It also was more muted. My advice would be to try to avoid a tufted wool rug if at all possible in any high traffic area--esp. a kitchen. A synthetic rug would be better if you cannot afford handknotted. Not sure what you mean by matchy-matchy: if these match with what you have there now or match with one another?

Just bought my second one. Love rugs, this buy was to change a bit. Although my purchases are always wool kilims and rustic. The first one is still looking great after 5 years and being washed by hanging outside, spraying down. It is huge, a 10X15 as is the new one. The colors were as stated and shown, they are still as true as when bought. My second one was not the intensity of colors shown. At first a bit disappointed, but decided the rug was great and a nice change. Wanted brighter colors, the colors are more like denim. Texture is wonderful as it shows the different thickness of yarns used. I wander through their rugs all the time. Few other sites have the large size available. For the price and little or nothing shipping costs, can't complain at all. Plus their products get here quick. You do have to jump on what is wanted, they can run out before a decision is made. Unknown to me the last rug was the last available and has not shown up again. No experience with exchanges, but did miss a 20% off by a day on the last purchase. Called them and they honored the offer, plus I just ordered over the phone. A suggestion. Look at some of the rugs closely. There price is so low and can make wonderful pillow covers, seat cushions, etc. Kilims work great as do other low pile rugs and come in all types of patterns. Check the pile height and weight for an idea as to use for upholstery.
