Before you paint over your wallpaper.....

PLEASE think of the other guy!!! Your quick fix is a future owner's nightmare.

This is one of the reasons all our projects take for-flippin-ever and our paint updates are few and far between!! And because DH is as close to a perfectionist as you can be in an old house. None of our rooms would be as crisp and nice otherwise.

Nothing we undertake is ever easy. We knew the walls were bad - one of the reasons I did a dark faux on them years ago because it hides a multitude of sins. They were papered when we bought the house, we stripped that and just painted everything Atrium White till I did the red. Took off the chair rail yesterday and found that there were layers of paper from long before that had been painted over, then the owners prior to us papered over that and slapped up a chair rail - grrrrr. Somewhere along the line an owner before that wrapped the corners with paper and that has decades of paint on top so the corners are all rounded. At some point we have to draw the line - this is an old house, walls are not perfect and that's that. But it's really gonna show with the Palace White :-(

Two of the many papers we found

Everything loose has to come down - someone even did a skim coat over wall paper - idiot.

He kept circling the room and finding more as the light changed.

Not looking forward to the sanding - the dust from all this is the worst.
