I think you have selected some great options. When I first looked, I was drawn to the first paint chip baked terra cotta and the vibrant curtains. I still think they would work, but at second glance I liked the darker paint chip better. Seems more soothing.
The beiges are growing on me, and I think it depends on what kind of feeling you want in the room. I think the beiges would actually be more calming and easier to live with- though I can't really see what elsecolor wise you have in that room.
Honestly I think all of those would look really nice, but I think I would select the darker beige and teh beige curtain .

I think they have the color names backwards on the drapery. I went to the JCP website, and the other color name supposedly for the drapery panel with the green stripe, is listed as 'beige multi'. I would call and be sure of which is which before you order them, because I think the one with the green stripe is the pumpking stripe, and the other one you have shown is the beige multi. I would also be sure the stripe in the drape is really as rusty as it appears - perhaps order a panel before you pick out your paint. I think it may be more red than rust?

I like the Audubon Russett better in the color swatches, but that doesn't tell us how they will look in your room. I think the Russett is a bit browner, not so pink, which is likely why I prefer it.

Personally, I would not paint that little arched wall in the either rusty color. It is a small space, with a lot going on with the stairway, etc. Now, painting the wall where the doorway is into the kitchen would be great. I would add trim to the arch, painted as the other trim is in the room, and make the wall the same as the rest of them in the room.

I like the Netsuke, but then again it depends on how it looks in your space. I am thinking that both colors might be too beige and not warm enough to work with the drapery with the green in it, if that is your choice.

I once painted a great room in a similar color. I kept saying I wanted a light brick red color. It was hard and I had many samples painted on the wall before I got what I wanted. I suggest you try a small bit first but on my monitor I really like the russet color for the same reason Les said, it seems to have less pink undertones. I love the deep striped curtains and the settee with it also, very nice :-) As a beige to go with it I lean toward the whole wheat.

The actual chair rail and banister I think I am going to stain a dark brown. And the section below the rails that looks white now I think I will paint whatever colors I pick for the trim. So only a small part would be the same as the kitchen. The wall by the doorway connecting to the kitchen is the same wall as the rest of the living room so it will be difficult to section that off and paint it a different color...unless you mean that little section right above the door.

As for the curtain names, Les 917, you may be right!

I got the original idea to place a settee there from pottery barn...this sort of reminds me of of the shape of my stair section. Except this settee is way too big and way to $$$$$

I have Netsuke on the walls in the upstairs gallery and on several ceilings on the 1st floor with Ecru or Artifact walls. I have sage green with the Ecru/Netsuke. I have gold/terracotta with the Artifact/Netsuke. It has green undertones, so if you put a dark green with it, the walls will look gold. If you put gold in front of it, the walls will look green. I also have merlot and gold colors with the darker Ecru.

Your choices are nice, I'll have to go look at your drapes online. I like the color scheme.

Guess I am first noticing what many of you probably already know, but I am using a different computer now, and the colors are really different. I suppose that for "matching color" purposes and overall looks, posting photos is valid, but for nuances of shades, maybe not so much.

yiannab, we are currently trying to decide on a fabric for our new chairs (Wesley Hall) and one of the florals we like has a coordinating stripe fabric that looks identical to those drapes.

If it is not too much trouble, could you post if/when you get them and let me know if the colour is fairly true? Thanks. It would save us a huge chunk of cash to get the JCP rather than custom.

I love everything you have picked out and think it would look great together. We currently have a terracotta on the walls. It has been a great neutral, but it does tend to look muddy at times.

So now I have found an area rug that I like and was wondering if it would work in my living room as well. The colors are nice but I was wondering about the pattern. What do you think?

I think if you want to match the paint to your drapes, the Terra Cotta looks closer in color to me to the stripe in the drape - it has more pink in it than the russet color.

That said, I do like the russet color better because of the pink showing in the Terra Cotta, but if you like that fabric, then the Terra Cotta should be fine. Maybe it would be best to order the drapes and compare them directly to your samples. I do like the settee too.

As far as the area rug, I'm not feeling it with the striped drapes. It looks very contemporary to me and the striped drapes and settee are definitely more traditional/classic style. I'd go for a simple oriental rug pulling in the green/terra cotta colors.

It looks like a sisal rug to me, which would be nice in the room, but it's sortof a rough texture, so don't know if you'll like that or not.

I'd do the drapes and paint and then add the rug so you can see what it looks like in the finished room. What else are you going to have in the LR other than the settee? Or was the settee for the foyer? I'm confused...

I like the 1st rug. It's not something I would normally like, but the colors are nice. I was looking at the settee for our new home, I love the look of it.

I prefer the beige colors, Netsuke. There's so much you can do with neutral colors so that you won't get tired of it as fast.

What I would do is go to JC Penney and see if the have the curtains in stock. You can usually get the better sale in the store for curtains (buy 1 get 1 for $1). Even if you went there to bring the curtains home to get a feel for the colors in the house, then bring them back.

Be sure to go to google and do a search for JC Penney coupon code. I've found that with some things (like the settee) free shipping may be cheaper, but with curtains a % off coupon works best.
