I don't think it looks too small, it's proportional to the mirror and sink. The arched detail at the top of the light complements the other arched/curved details in the bathroom. I think the bathroom looks beautiful!

The fixture itself blends really well with your bathroom decor. I agree a 3rd globe tends to fill in the spot and balance things out, but might be overkill on the amount of light you need. Guess it depends if you want the hassle of replacing it.

Such a pretty bath! I agree, the 2 looks great. Would you ever consider adding two single light sconces to either side of the mirror? I think it is more flattering to have the light lower.

I also think it looks fine. More than fine. It looks good. Very pretty bathroom. I would not replace now. If it bothers you down the road, maybe, but really, it looks good.

I like the 2 light version better than the 3 for your bathroom! It is more proportional.

I too like the 2 light much better than the 3 light. It just "fits" your mirror so nicely! Does not look too small at all.

I would have said 3 until I saw hilltop's virtual and now I think 3 is too many.

I would also move the mirror down to give it more breathigng space like in janealexa's pic.

After seeing hilltop's mockup, (thank you, hilltop!), I agree that 2 lights look better than 3 (a surprising conclusion!). My preference was a sconce on either side, like nini804 suggested, but we did this on a budget and it was cheaper to go with one fixture on top.

fori, I think the amount of light is adequate. It is such a small bathroom and it has a window too.

If I could wave a magic wand, I'd make the light fixture a couple of inches wider (janealexa'a picture is more of what I was aiming for - the width of the light fixture seems better balanced with the width of the mirror than our setup), but after reading your replies, it seems silly to swap it out just for that. How does that saying go - Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good? I'm so guilty of this!

However, a few of you raised a new concern and suggested moving the mirror down. I totally see your point. Unfortunately, our mirror is actually a recessed medicine cabinet, so moving it down would be no small task. I could ask DH to move the light up a bit (eek), but would it look too high then? Or, maybe adding a small glass shelf between the sink and mirror would help it look more balanced?

Love your bathroom! We have the same mirror in our downstairs bath (sans medicine cabinet). I, too, plan to put a shelf underneath, although I am having trouble finding something that is not too wide (looking for glass) so we no one bangs their head while washing their face.

As an aside, I love your floors. Can I ask what they are? Did you buy the green tiles separately? I was looking to do something similar in our upcoming upstairs bath remodel.

If you can't move the mirror, I think you should just leave everything as is. A shelf might clutter the space, everything looks so nice and clean the way it is. I'm a huge fan of simple and clean lines. And if you move the light, it will look too high, not to mention DH would not be happy moving electrical:)

Don't you just love this forum? Everyone is so helpful! How cool of hilltop to post a picture with the 3 lights, sometimes it is so hard to visualize something! That really helped!

hlove: Ah, we have similar taste! My sister-in-law designed our bathroom and gets credit for the floor idea (I picked the green accent tile and showed her pics of what I liked and she did the rest). The floor tile actually comes all white. It was her brilliant idea to pop out a few of the white tiles and insert the green glass tiles as accents. Honestly, I ADORE how it came out! It gives the floor the perfect amount of sparkle! If you want, I can ask her where she found the white floor tile (the green glass tile came from Lowes). janealexa: Lol! I was just about to start glass shelf shopping! You caught me in the nick of time! Yes, I like clean simple lines too and don't want to clutter things up. I'm glad you agree that the light would look too high if we moved it up (yes, DH would NOT have been happy with that request, the poor guy has been busting his butt on our new house for so long, the last thing he needs is unnecessary added work from me). I'd prefer it with 3 lights - or the 2 spaced wider apart.

but since it's a built in cabinet and it'd be a hassle to move the light (it'd be higher, there'd be a hole to patch etc) I'd leave it. It doesn't look horrible by any means.

If you compare your bathroom and the example bathroom, you will see that there is more of a balance of straight and curved lines for variety. I think you should introduce some straight lines into your bathroom.

I love it the way it is with 2 lights! I used 3 in my small bath thinking it would fill the space and regret it. I had to lower the wattage of the light bulbs and it's more cluttered looking with 3 lights. Keep it the way it is!!!!! Beautiful!!!

You might keep your eyes open for 2 glass shades that are a little wider on the bottom. I think it looks great as it is and you should definitely wait until you add the shelf.

If you buy a glass shelf, I'd make sure it was shallow. You don't want it in the way of accessing the faucet. It needs to be low enough to give anything on it clearance below the movable mirror.

I LOVE your floor!!!

I have never cared for the small white and black mosaic tiles often used in retro baths, but this floor appeals to me. I think it's the same-color grout and the delightfully unexpected green accents. Plus the wall color picks up the green beautifully.

You can always get a glass shop to cut a shelf the size you need and buy the hardware to mount it separately. Your soap, glass or any other accessories will help fill that space between the sink and mirror whether on a shelf or on the sink ledge (doesn't look like you have much -- a shelf might be handy).

As you settle in, consider your options for accessorizing -- your mention of not being able to do sconces triggered the idea of using a small wall vase as a toothbrush holder. Or you have space to put a vintage look wall mounted soap dispenser. Your home has a lot of charm -- have fun continuing to personalize it.
