Is my ktichen Zen and relaxing or ... just boring?
Comments (32)you are saying the MW (as shown in your first post) will now go under the counter. ( Y / N? ) Without thinking about it much, my first inclination is to make the rolltop go all the way to the fridge height because it opens the appliance garage more, and it evens out the lines of the upper cabinets. Whether or not this is all too much wall is another question. I think it's OK. You have enough counter and island already. A closed off appliance garage can be good. The messiest looking things can be parked inside the space that the rolltop hides when the kitchen is deemed "closed". This assumes you will have hours when you are closed for business....See MoreWhite/white/white kitchen refresh FINISHED
Comments (85)Hi island. Our banquette was built (several years ago) by the same guy who did our cabinets. There is no back on it ... just loose pillows, which we sort of toss around depending on how many people are actually sitting on it. It does have storage. There are sliding doors on the long front of it (this is not easy storage to access but it's for the cookbooks I pull out once a year, etc.) and a "morgue" drawer that comes out from the end (where we keep all the dog leashes, collars, etc. Super handy storage!). I will take some measurements tonight or tomorrow for you, but I recall that the seat is about 19" tall after the cushion is on. I made the cushion extra thick, 4 inches, and raised it up a little because I prefer to sit a little higher at a table. The chairs came with the house and I sort of painted them on a whim. I used Annie Sloan's chalk paint, which was OK, although I'm not sure it was any better than any other kind of paint, other than not having to prime them first. They do seem to be wearing well though. Hope that helps for now. More to follow....See MoreAnother Finished White Kitchen...But I have morgue drawers
Comments (105)ejbrymom, yes I do like the Kitchen Aid. I am not a big cook but I do like the Power burner. (Plus I liked the look of it.) The tile is from a local store in MN. I am sure if you Google it you can find a retailer in your area. Thanks for the compliments. Fun to see people like it after three years. Hi hockeychik. It is hard to believe it has been three years. Just when all the remodeling nightmares went away I decided to start on the second floor. Nothing compared to the first floor (and no kitchen.) Good luck with your kitchen! bostonpam, let's get some morgue drawers on the East Coast! Thanks for the walk down memory lane. It is so nice not to be TKO. It is so funny to think how bad I was. Could have used an intervention but I hung around a site with some worse than me ;-o...See MoreI have a finished white kitchen to share!
Comments (91)As inspiration, the photos in this thread do their job. The photos are highly retouched / photoshopped. In the simplest photo showing the three pendants and the hood, look at the light: that alone will confirm to you it's all artificial, beyond all resemblance to reality. If you divide that photo into a dozen vertical strips, I can comment about the light and shadows in each of these strips. The photo work may have been done by a person who had a few goals to achieve. A goal might be to create envy and become the center of attention. A psychological goal. A goal might be to get paid by one or more sponsors. Perhaps the employer is an agency that was able to get several payments. Every photo shows products. These company's products are mentioned in the thread. Also, questions posted about other items are not answered well. That too is fishy and it constitutes sufficient ground all by itself to make one draw the conclusion that the internet is not always exactly what you might want it to be. Billions of dollars are spent on internet marketing; where does it end up on your computer screen? Welcome to the world of envy management. Buyer beware, things are not always what they appear to be, you get the picture. A few months before this thread started I saw a thread about someone building a new house and claiming to be buying eight slabs of granite for the kitchen. Since a slab is 40 or 50 square feet, it would have meant the kitchen was a very big room. Even billionaires do not have that size of kitchen. Hth...See Morejenswrens
