This is a house we are building and I guess you want everything to be as perfect as possible. Tonight when we went there I looked at the doors that go onto the patio with the ORB hinges and it just sets them off so nicely. I could just see the ORB handles/knobs. Then my brain kicked into gear and it said but you have purchased all silver/chrome fixtures for the whole house. Imagine being in the bathroom with a ORB knob/handle/hinges and then the faucets and light fixture will be chrome. So then I thought well I could have ORB on the outside and chrome on the inside. My hsuband then announced that the hinges show when the door is closed. Acountryhome I agree with you totally that just do everything in chromes (matte, brushed, etc. but at least all grey metals) and you don't have to think about it again. Your eyes can settle on more interesting things because that stuff will be settled and fade into the background so to speak. As you can see I need more info or something. More help please.

Clady do you really think ORB is going to look dated in the future? The reason I ask is because I think it looks old and that's what drew me to ORB in the first place - b/c to me it looks like something you'd see in a old house - something timeless...but maybe you are right and it's just a trend? My house has black hinges, ORB door handles, my kitchen cabinets have ORB pulls, and all of our lighting/ceiling fans are either black or ORB...so all the finishes are dark throughout my home...In my kitchen I have a SS sink and facuet and SS appliances and I think it looks fine mixed with all the dark... My master bath has silver finishes on the faucets, tub, shower - but everything else (doors, lights and accessories like TP, towel bar etc.) will have the dark finish. If it looks okay in the kitchen I think it will be okay in the bathroom. We haven't started our master bath yet - but I think once it's done it will be fine to have both finishes. Same scenario as you Clady - don't have the experience to change the plumbing and I don't think it's worth the expense.

No, but I should have. I picked up what I thought was an awesome deal months on ORB knobs from Lowes before we were even thinking of starting.I got 30 ORB knobs for .50 cents each.They are supposed to be solid brasss underneath and felt good and heavy not cheap at all. Now I know why, we have already replaced 2 as the finish just falls off ,seriously. Now I am searching for knobs that the ORB won't come off. Which is why I still have duct tape on the drawers I am afraid to put the cup pulls on even thought I didnt get them at Lowes. I didnt get an ORB faucet so I don't know about that. I imagine that since it is a higher dollar value item that the finish would be better.

I went with the chrome on my Kohler faucet partly because I didn't like the Brazen Bronze color that Kohler does for the vinnata faucet. It's not really an ORB finish and I wasn't positive I would like it in my red kitchen. The upcharge for the color was about $200 and my family was still placing smelling salts under my nose just to cover the $300 chrome faucet price. I decided that I would rather have $200 worth of new dishes and table linens for the dining room. Chrome faucets are long-lasting and easy clean too. Anyway, I indulged my longing for ORB with my cabinet pulls. And here is a shot of other side of kitchen, with my bank of cabinets.
