Does anyone have one of these lazy susans with rollout shelves?
Comments (2)When the 'drawers' are in, the whole thing pivots like a normal lazy Susan to give you access to the side baskets. The website at K&V says that it pivots 105 degrees each way....See MoreWhat kind of corner cabinet - Blind corner/lazy susan/other
Comments (14)My lazy susan in my old kitchen was the most functional cabinet in the entire kitchen. Yes, lazy susan, it had a center pole. Like Marcolo's, it had the door attached to the shelves so it rotated inside the cabinet. No doors hitting cabinets on the side or to get in the way of accessing the items stored there. Nothing could fall off of it b/c the walls of the cabinet followed the contour of the shelves so closely that about all that would fit b/w them was air. 13 years old and it still rotated smoothly and was so easy to use! With a Blind Corner Unit, if something falls off a shelf, you cannot close it until someone crawls into the back to retrieve it. When I briefly toyed with one b/c it looked "cool", my KD strongly discouraged it b/c of the complaints she's had from clients who insisted on one and now regret it. So, what did I store in my lazy susan in my old kitchen? All my pots & pans (and I had more then than I do now), colanders, pie tins, cake pans, and various serving dishes/items. Unfortunately, I don't have pictures...I didn't realize how useful pics like that would be at the time and so only took very general "before" pictures. With my new kitchen, I was really looking forward to having one to hold all my small appliances, but instead I ended up w/a Pet Center cabinet that was turned 90o and faced outward (at my DH's request). I now store most of my small appliances in my pantry and still miss the Super Susan I almost had! Kodak1...I suggest you post a floor plan b/c it might help us to see what your options are in the various corners...including answering your question about your range location. Some options: Corner Susan, cabinet turned 90o to face the other side (assuming an open side), corner prep sink (or main sink), etc. Good luck!...See MoreDo you have a corner susan cabinet next to range?
Comments (19)I have a 3" pullout filler between my corner cabinet and 30" rangetop cabinet. Kompy is correct, the pullout is designed to be installed between two full cabinets; the curved wall of the corner cabinet leaves about 12" of open space beside the pullout, from mid-point to rear wall. We fixed this by having a piece of panelling cut to fit there and nailed to the pullout's outer frame during installation. If this isn't done, items can fall out of the racks into the abyss between pullout and corner. Here are pics of what the setup looks like. We are, obviously, in the middle of all of this, and doors have been removed for finishing. Granite was installed two days ago, and the large piece with the sink cutout was cracked, so it's not there. Cooktop cutout has not been done yet. Measurements from left to right are 15" base, 30" cooktop base, 3" pullout, 36" easy-reach base, if that helps any. :)...See MoreCorner Peninsula cabinets Lazy susan or?
Comments (4)What dimensions are you talking about for the cabinet and the door opening on the kitchen side? I have a peninsula and installed a 33" x 33" Easy Reach KM base corner cabinet with a bi-fold door. This type of cabinet has one fixed shelf where the front shelf edge is recessed back 4.5" to allow easier access to the lower contents. The diagonal opening on mine is 11" wide. The hinges restrict this space down further to 10.5." However, turning items vertically when placing them into the cabinet is the secret. Since the entire cabinet is accessible for storage, this cabinet has a huge capacity. Some items in mine are an old style aluminum cake carrier, a tall cake stand, very large Corning ware casseroles. Cookie sheets, cake and muffin pans are store vertically between metal dividers on part of the left side of the top shelf. A test run at a big box store with some of the larger items I wanted to store told me this cabinet would meet my needs. I just wanted to let you know there is a third option between the two you have considered....See Morebeth
