ORB finish
Comments (11)Bronze is mostly copper. A true ORB is a living finish and will show the wear points by wearing through the patina to the natural brighter coppery metal tht is below. There are some brands that clearcoat the patina, but that will fail over time. And there are some some companies that do a paint finish instead of the real much more expensive finish. They developed the fake because too many people thought that the natural behavior of the material was some sort of defect. It isn't. It shows that you have the real thing and not the painted imitation....See MoreORB door hardware w/o living finish?
Comments (9)Baldwin has ORB that does change. They also have distressed ORB, venetian bronze, distressed venetian bronze, and rustic bronze. The Baldwin venetian bronze more coppery than the Kwikset. The Kwikset venetian bronze is very dark. I have a girlfriend that used the rustic bronze and said it is lacquered and will not change. Baldwin was unfortunately out of my allowance. I felt/tried all of the brands and felt that the Kwikset Ultra was heavier than their regular line. There was a reason I didn't use the Schlage (something that could be seen on the outside of the door or the lock out mechanisam?) but I can't remember what it was exactly. The entire line of Kwikset Ultramax is not stocked at big box stores. You can view it at Simpsons Hardware online or other people have suggested lockhouse.com. Comments (11)I ordered over $400 worth of some knobs and backplates from him. He advertised that they were the same as what Lowe's carries. Well, when I got them, they were knock-offs and not the brass knobs like Lowe's carried. They were zinc. Also, the backplates did not have the little nipple to keep them from spinning once you install the. The ones I ordered at Lowe's did. At the end of the day, he did take them back and refunded my money. I was out the shipping, but it was worth it. He was a fast shipper and handled my dissatisfaction well. He no longer advertises that these are brass, but still claims they are like the ones at HD and Lowes. They LOOK like the original designs, but like I said, they are knock offs of the originals, which are brass. Here's a link to the original design in brass, by Period Brass that is so much more expensive. Here's a link to Shakerlag's knock off design that he is advertising to be the same as sold by Lowes and HD, which are usually a special order. Here's the knob I ended up buying after purchasing over 40 different designs and finishes of knobs and handles from myriads of stores locally and sellers online. I'm telling you, this knob looks the best with my granite and cabinets. It was a unanimous vote for weight, color, and texture. The photo does not do the knob justice. I ended up buying a ton of knobs and Redbuyer2000, the ebay seller, who bent over backwards to find the matching handles for me to go with this knob. She has the best shipping prices out there, too. AND she can count! Fast shipping, too. :)Here's my knobs on my doors. (A work still in progress.)...See Morelooking for an orb free standing tub faucet in a pvd finish
Comments (0)We are remodeling and gutting our master bath. There is not enough room for a drop in tub with a deck mount for our shower door to open and close. We are forced to chose a free standing tub instead. I am looking for an ORB telephone set that comes in a PVD finish for care and durability. This has been a very frustrating search. The local plumbing stores have been a dead end. The sales people here have given us wrong information or have poor customer service. We have chosen dark lighting fixtures and I am at my wit's end in trying to find plumbing with a telephone set to match. Does anybody know of a mid to high end plumbing company that manufactures a telephone set in an ORB with a PVD finish? I have looked at Hansgrohe, Rohl, California Faucets, Rubinet, Newport Brass, Kohler, Delta (Brizo) and Moen (Showcase). What other plumbing manufactures would be included in the mid to high end range? I have already spent alot of time and money with a designer on tile, cabinets and lighting selections only to find out companies aren't making a ORB telephone set in a PVD finish. I would have to change my lighting selection to match brushed nickel plumbing but I am have trouble finding enough silver finished lighting to fit my bathroom. Lighting with a dark finish is what seems to be in style. Living finshes for my plumbing are my last resort. I might also post this in the bathroom section. Thanks in advance. I am new to this site and I am very glad to have found you....See Morechips4000
