Polished travertine floors--what to do?

I've been going around with a friend who's looking for a new place, and she lost her heart to one that has polished travertine throughout the downstairs, including the kitchen. Aside from the skating rink aspect--wheeeee!--how much trouble can she expect from having this in the kitchen? It appears to be sealed to a bowling lane level of gloss.

I would presume this is the cheap thin HD tile, probably installed during the frenzy to glam the place up. It's very nicely installed, I must say, but I can't help wondering what it will look like after a few splashes of vinegar and a dropped lemon or tomato half or two. Thoughts or suggestions? I know there's no possibility of negotiating a price that would allow for replacement. Oh, and she's a single working woman, not a big cook for a family, if that makes any difference.
