What about a color? Just seems to me your WHOLE kitchen will be on the grey scale with the choices you are talking about.

Irish-I found pendant #2 at lightingdirect.com, it's Nuvo Lighting Margaux. When I sent a pic to dh, he found it cheaper at Amazon.
Bahacca- I know I need some color in there. The walls in the kichen and the dining room, which is open to the kitchen, are going to be Behr Cloudy Day and my dining chairs have quite a bit of color in them. I'm probaly going to add bits of color like paper towel holder, napkin holder, fruit bowl and linens. I was looking for a blue glass shade for a pendant but I cant find one that looks good with my wall color.

I also like the second pendant that you posted. The third one looks like Tech's Inner Fire pendant. If you want some color that style comes in another option called Fire and they have it in a Steel Blue color as well as smoke and other colors. Maybe this could be an option for your space. Here is another glass one from Tech in steel blue. I have it in the Smoke color and love it. The diffuser eliminate any glare. You still get light out the sides as well as downward.

You pick good lights! #2 is my favorite - it is now on my list of possibilities, too. I wonder how that will be to clean... I like the idea of diffused light that doesn't just point down for my application, assuming I go with pendants.

I'm no expert, but I'm not sure you have to have other things to relate, though some of the other lighting that goes with this series would work great in adjoining rooms if you are looking for a DR light, etc? I like that it has a touch of bling.

Will #2 cast a wierd(yet probably pretty) shadow? THat would be my concern with it.

Badgergal- both the Tech lights you posted are gorgeous! My mom and dd both loved them. They are more than I had planned to spend though.
Steph- I agree, #2 adds just a bit of bling being polished. I like that, especially since all my other metal in the kitchen is not. I do have polished granite though.
Bahacca- you GW'ers think of everything! I hadn't thought of the shadows...maybe the metal shade will just diffuse the light, not really cast definite shadows?

I like #2 as well. If you like #1 but think it's too plain, what about #4? It's similar but has that little "extra".

I like them all - have looked at most of them myself. I ended up with the Tech Lighting Jayden Grande pendants in clear because when they brought one out from the back to show me I just fell in love with it. I actually didn't like it all that much online and I'm not generally a crystal girl, so I'd suggest seeing them in person if at all possible because it can really change your perspective.

My take on #2 with re. to DH's concerns - I don't think the polished vs. stainless or brushed is a big issue, and the pattern would probably work since it isn't competing with anything. My thinking is that the light has a dainty/delicate feel with the flower design and I'm not sure how well dainty/delicate works with your kitchen. If it were geometric I'd probably be more comfortable with it, but that's just me. In some ways the flowers add a bit of the unexpected which is fun too.

Of your other 4 options - I really like #1 and think it would look great, thought it looked very pretty in person too. They have it in clear with black wrapped around the inside white cylinder which would be pretty and pull in the black granite. #3 would really be a knockout especially if you end up with stainless in your tile. (I love the tile with stainless in it, by the way.)

Another light I saw that I absolutely loved, and the sales guy called "sexy" which was an apt term, and would look awesome in your kitchen - was a jet black glass one. The glass was completely opaque - not just a dark smokey gray. As I recall the light didn't diffuse out the sides of that one. It stayed black when lit with the light just projected downward. It was gorgeous and would look stunning with your granite. It had the shape of the first pic in your "alternates" list and the Tech Lighting one badgergirl shows. Stunning but maybe not as much light as you are hoping for.

So many fun things to select from out there! But too many choices can make it so hard. Good luck!
