Double Wall Oven & Cook top or Double oven range?
Comments (9)My experience is very different. 13 years ago, I put in two full ranges (4 burners on each one) in two different parts of my kitchen. Space was not a problem, and we entertained frequently with multiple cooks in the kitchen. I also have two dishwashers, so was able to make two work triangles. It has worked very well, although I can see your point about trying to cook while baking and the heat generated. The main point I wanted to make was that at the time, I bought an expensive ($1600) Kitchen Aid convection range. It has been nothing but a nightmare. I often cannot broil and cook on the cooktop at the same time--it shorts out the entire range. This happened within the first 6 months of owning it, and the repairman said that the model was really just for show and the circuitry wasn't sufficient to handle heavy cooking! Since then, the electronic control pads don't register, so if I want the oven to be at 350, I have to press in 349 because the 5 and the 0 don't work! The convection never worked properly. Horrible waste of money. I can't wait to get something else, and I'll never get another Kitchen Aid....See MoreShould I do one double wall oven or two single wall ovens?
Comments (4)I grew up in a kitchen with two totally different wall ovens. One had a great broiler and rotisserie, and opened to the side. The other was fantastic for baking, especially things that needed a consistent and gentle environment. It was also good for gigantabirds. Both could handle most ordinary tasks. For instance, cookie baking marathons, or multiple chickens. Both were at optimal height. The side opening one could take advantage of what would have otherwise been a dump area by a doorway. The drop down door was by a wall where the other couldn't have fit. The design of my non-attached ovens (Gaggenau combi-steam and single) are so heavily weighted to stacking that they would have looked dumb if they hadn't been. Giving up separate optimal height ovens for that is one of the decisions I question constantly. It solved some other problems, but I still rue it. If you have the money and space for two single ovens, do it! And remember, if they're independent ovens they also don't have to be next to each other if the design works better to separate them....See MoreWhere should a prep sink go? Can I fit a double wall oven?
Comments (0)IâÂÂve posted a lot about my layout, sorry. Still havenâÂÂt found a KD to work with, so for now MS Paint and you guys are my BFs. At the advice of many suggesting an island, I came up with this plan. Turns out I can fit a HUGE, albeit mostly narrow, island. I think IâÂÂm excited. Please critique any aspect of it. Most importantly for now is where the best place for a prep sink is, and can I fit a double wall oven anywhere, leading to a 36â induction cook top instead of range. The idea of a prep sink is still pretty new to me, so IâÂÂm having a hard time deciding where it should go. I assumed on the island but when I look at it, I feel like I have to put it right in the middle of the island for it to make senseâ¦rinse, chop to my right, turn to my right & pop on stove. If thatâÂÂs the best spot, I have a hard time believing I need itâ¦the big sink is right behind me there! I was thinking on the PR wall, but I was hoping to possibly use that spot for wall oven(s). sooo⦠I swallow my pride and post again and humbly ask for your feedback on my latest!! This should end soon, contractors coming tomorrow bringing a KD with them and I'm heading to Oxford Cabinet shop soon! I am still able to change the location of anything in this plan, but IâÂÂm TRYING not to move the big window b/c its already a bumped out window there. Thanks as always for any feedback! Not sure why this keeps posting so small . My aisle width between window wall and island is 38". Between PR wall and side of island is 55". Between island and basement door is 52". The island measures 120" long. Its 28" wide at the short end and 41" at wider end....See MoreDouble oven range+mw or normal range+speed oven
Comments (2)I have a Miele Speed Oven. Before our reno, we had two 27" wall ovens & a countertop microwave. We've never used a toaster oven. We never had enough oven space on the holidays so our goal was to add a 3rd oven with a microwave/convection oven. We thought the Miele would be a good option for us because we are empty nesters & DH has an irregular work schedule. I have about 20 minutes notice that he is on his way home & it is often 8-9 pm. It was also the only microwave/convection oven that fit our space-all the others were too big. I haven't used the Miele much as we are just completing our reno & I haven't done much cooking. It does heat up pretty fast & I have cooked a casserole in about half the time as a regular oven. In our case, this oven wouldn't be big enough to function as a second oven on the holidays, but is a great third oven & microwave....See Morerhome410
