composite granite sinks- price means less granite more acrylic?

shopping for composite granite sinks in dark colors. I've been reading and reading and reading posts everywhere trying to figure out the difference between people who love theirs and those that hate theirs.
I've landed on the composite granite but am worried about the quality of those sold by anyone other than Blanco. I'm on a tight budget and although I'd love to spend as much as it takes to get the best cg sink, I have to try to get the best deal.
Is this a product that you can ONLY go big with or you'll forever regret it? The warehouse and big box stores sell cheaper ones, but I'm wondering what about them makes them inferior? Is there less granite and more acrylic? Brands like Franke in a big box store is less than a kitchen store. Anyone ever hear of a brand called Swan? sold at menards? or Pegasus? Looking to hear from people who have cg sinks from big box or warehouse stores. How do you like your sink? I need a comparison to those lucky people who Love love love their Blanco sinks.

Blanco is the originator of the process, and I wouldn't put my faith in any of the knockoffs, especially anything from a box store where the only criteria is how cheap they can sell it. What I'd do would be slightly flexible in the color and configuration and check out Ebay and Amazon. There have been some great $300 deals.

I did read somewhere that Pegasus is made for HD by Blanco.

We had a black cascade & Rondo in kitchen. We're building currently & are installing the same sinks plus a laundry sink. May be less choices but worth it...they're durable, functional, easy to clean, look great. Would never go back to stainless. Hope this helps. Good luck with your project.

We put a charcoal gray (anthracite) Blanco Silgranit sink into our last home (about 12 years ago) and after a few years of use, we were less than pleased with its performance, especially for the price tag. At first, it was amazing and we loved how it looked! Over the years, we used it for everything - normal kitchen/dish washing use but also occasionally to wash out paint brushes, soaking clothes, even washing show chickens in it. (No utility room sink, so the kitchen sink was the go to spot.) We kept it clean and well cared for. We believed all the hype back then that Blanco sinks were impervious to just about everything and I guess we should have been more careful. It basically started looking blotchy and losing its color on the bottom. It then started pitting on the bottom and was no longer a smooth surface, especially around the drain. And the blotchiness wasn't really stains but rather "burns", according to what we had read online. By the time we were ready to sell the house, it was pretty unsightly and we had to replace it. (Due to the less than helpful Blanco customer service folks who refused to honor any sort of warranty, we went with a Kraus sink.) But we only had the Kraus sink for a few months before moving, so not sure how that one will hold up. So now I'm trying to decide what to do with our new (but 15 year old home). I like how durable stainless sinks are and how cost effective they are but since spots and smudges on the stainless steel appliances drive me crazy and I'm CONTSTANTLY wiping them off, adding one more stainless item to care for in this kitchen doesn't seem like a wise decision. Anyway, thought I would add my 2 cents. I still can't decide if I want to do another composite sink (but do a more reasonably priced manufacturer like Kraus) or go with something else. If I do composite again, I will definitely go with a darker color and be super diligent about ONLY soap and water going into the sink.

"to get a high quality it's 2-3x price of granite sink" Nope. Many on this forum love their Kraus stainless steel sinks. They are 16 gauge, which is thicker than the 18-gauge you see in many brands. You can find them on expressdecor or overstock. Also be aware that just because there is the name "Blanco", "Franke", or "Kohler" on the stainless steel sink doesn't mean it was made in Germany, Switzerland or the U.S. These companies sell many sinks made in China. I don't think that a Chinese sink is a bad thing. Just like in the U.S., there are some made better and some not. What I don't like is paying multiples just to have the name Blanco, Franke, or Kohler, thinking you are getting a German, Swiss, or U.S. made sink. These companies do still make some of their sinks in those countries, but you have to call the company's customer service number with the model number you are interested in, and ask them about it. Or the box will also say. But you want a granite composite sink. That seems to be your first priority. Something has to give. Blanco makes the best granite composite sinks, and holds multiple patents on their Silgranit material. If it were me, I would compromise on the 70-30 configuration, and get the BlancoDiamond Super Single Silgranit sink with the corner drain. Once you have a corner drain, you never go back.

There is no granite in "granite" sinks, no matter what the manufacturer's marketing people claim. They are quartz and plastic that are injection molded. Granite has too much feldspar and mica to be suitable for sinks.

I replace cracked, stained, and worn Blanco composites regularly.

This is a 7-year-old thread. But in any case, Joseph Corlett keeps posting those same sink pics whenever anyone brings up Blanco Silgranit. We do not know the age of that sink. We do not know what was done to it. Clearly it has not had normal wear and tear. If he says it is owned by an elderly lady who babied it and only had it for a year, I am not buying that. Joseph - I appreciate very much your other input on this forum; it is very knowledgeable and valuable. But you gotta give those sink pics a rest, and stop using them to fearmonger about Blanco Silgranit. There are just too many happy Blanco Silgranit sink owners on this forum.

Blanco Silgranit sink owner here. Mine has been problem-free for 8 years. The easiest sink to clean I have ever had in my life. Looks great - like it's a month old, not 8 years old. I have the Super Single.

As to the price, I remember I got mine during a sale, and the seller was offering added coupon discounts as well. It was about $350, and I don't find that too high for a sink. You must get it from a certified blanco seller or there could be trouble with it. I think whenever I read about trouble with a blanco sink it's cause the person did not buy from a certified seller so they didn't realize they bought a knock-off or a second or it was shipped crappy packing and that's the problem. I am moving into a new house soon, and will get another blanco sink. I have my eye on the new color they have called "coal black". Very cool.
