Love, love, LOVE Cats! There is NOTHING cuter than a kitten! Karen it's good that your Momma cat has nice warm, loving home in which to raise her babies. There's a feral female in our neighborhood that has kittens every year. It's heartbreaking. DH and I tried to trap her and her babies last spring. We wanted to get her spayed and eventually let her go again. We are in an apartment and pets are limited here. Anyway, she was too smart for us, but we ended up trapping one of her kittens. We watched in frustration as she sniffed around the trap, then gathered the rest of the litter and disappeared into the greenbelt. Needless to say, we kept the little guy and we love(and spoil)him. We've been beating ourselves up about not getting Mom cat, as she had a fall litter and I assume she's going to have another this spring. But at least we got one Tom off the street. All the authorities will do is transport any strays to the humane society after someone traps them and takes them to the local veterinary for a health check. At least the local humane society is a no-kill shelter. Many are not. Keep those pictures coming...we need those regular 'Awwww' fixes!

Yeah right, J.D.! LOL The only thing worse than a dead rat is a live rat. It took two weeks before my daughter could get the live one her cat brought in out of her house. They finally cornered the it in a closet (it was about half grown) grabbed it in a towel, and put it out. My daughter won't kill a rat because when she was a teen she had a white rat as a pet. Before you say 'Ewwweee' let me say there is as much difference in a wild rat and a domesticated, fancy, or laboratory rat, as there is in a wolf and a poodle. Fancy rats are very smart and affectionate. My daughter's rat knew its name and would come when called. It rode on her shoulder everywhere she went. Domesticated rats make easy to keep and sweet pets where one might not be able to keep a dog or cat. Unfortunately for the pet owner they only live about two or three years. After that my son had a series of white rats as pets. He taught them tricks including jumping off the diving board of our pool and swimming to him. They are much more affectionate and intelligent than gerbils or other small rodents kept as pets. I hadn't intended to write all this! But agreed, wild rats (Norway rats, ratus ) are another matter entirely and I'd rather not have them anywhere around! OMG! I am laughing so hard, I can't breathe and am coughing! I can't even read all of the comments. Having 3 dogs,one who loves to upchuck everything, anywhere, I can empathize. But I must say wait til you have a dead frog in your drier! I did, couldn't figure out where the smell was, kept rewashing stinky clothes. Then I got out my flashlight and stuck in the lint trap was this poor flattened frog. I don't know how he got in there unless my son, at that time around 6, had it in a pocket. What a stench. I think I used a few boxes of fabric softner sheets before it finally smelled okay. I hope you wiped the chunks up before you ran the machine!
