Italian cabinets
Comments (28)Hi -- live wire oak, I did take myself to the ikea web site and maybe I didn't hunt hard enough, but it looked to me as if they didn't have dark oak and as if they didn't have any wide cabinets with just two drawers, two things I really want. They do solve the money problem, but so far I am hoping I will be able to get what I really want at a low enough price. giacomo, I think you probably didn't miss anything not coming to ICFF. For me, much of the best at ICFF is the Italian display, "I Salone," and I think in essence that that is just part of the same display at the Milan fair, which you saw. Also, this year I got the impression that the Italian display at ICFF was smaller than in the past, and with fewer kitchens; I wonder why. Thanks for the photo showing the matching of the wood grain in quality cabinets; it was very helpful. petlady, a Woodmode dealer, with a very good reputation in our small-town-y area, was the first place I went to. It turned out that his ballpark price was about twice the price I got from two Italian cabinet sellers and that I liked the finish on the Italian cabinets better than the finish on the Woodmode cabinets. But I haven't yet reached the point where I feel I fully know what I'm doing. I think maybe what I have to do is make a precise plan and have it priced by the dealers I am considering so I can be sure that I am comparing apples with apples and to be sure what's being priced is the exact thing I want. (I did show them all the same inspiration picture.) But isn't the cabinet dealer supposed to make the precise plan? Anyway, perhaps you would tell me what company actually made your cabinets? This is an amazing web site and you are all so very helpful and knowledgeable; thank you....See MoreKitchen Style Question re: Creamy White Cabinets
Comments (16)Pbear,you have expressed my same concerns. I had every permutation going with soapstone and wood counters, but now think my 8' ceiling will also make it too heavy. I saw a lovely kitchen in a home for sale yesterday with a sort of china white (maybe darker) cabinet color, kashmir or bianco romano counter, perhaps a crema marfil small subway marble backsplash, and a honey colored oak floor. Very pretty, but worried maybe a tad bland. It was very monochromatic, but calming. Other than soapstone, I really love marble counters, but thought what I saw was a possible alternative to the look. Anybody have pictures with the kashmir type of granite and off white cabinets? I have searched here and found almost nothing. A also saw in a May Traditional home magazine a BM color on the cabinet called misty air used with a gray mystic stone backsplash. However the counters were stainless with a zinc edge (too cold for me). Any thoughts on using kashmir granite counters with misty air cabinet color and gray mystic stone backspash?...See MoreHelp replacing cabinet/mirror with more contemporary cabinet/chest
Comments (19)Thanks. Yes 2nd one is way over budget but thats what furniture sales people do Is show u the most expensive one first. I agree with a tall cabinet being overwhelming and blocking view. I am Still leaning towards a lower caninet. My sales persons comments about a talk cabinet was that it be a drama and adding height to the room that mimics the art over the dining which adds height. He also thought a short caninet would require more art/mirror suggesting it would be over kill. At least that is what i Think he meant....See MoreHow to choose kitchen cabinet door styles
Comments (48)Thank you all for the amazing feedback and insight!! @ulisdone I never thought twice about the exhaust hood! I will start my research! @decoenthusiaste most definitely drawers! I remolded my kitchen in my current house a long time ago and drawers are my best friend! @Pamela Jackson your perspective is right on point!! Working in the tile/countertop environment I was in gave me great insight into what was on trend and how quickly it can go south! As I've continued to take my trips around the sun, my tastes have evolved for lack of a better word LOL. I found myself drawn to simpler and less busy with still keeping a splash of "Lisa" in there. The cabinets in my current kitchen are still beautiful. all wood, recessed raised panel, glazed etc.. However now I want clean and simple.. no fuss no muss. The busier things are the less I like them which is different from how I was 10 years ago! @jemimabean thank you thank you for the info on the refrigerator. This is not something that would make us happy! I will definitely do my research on that and take some measurements!! Lastly @Jennifer K I totally agree with you about having to be happy with my choice. When I would help customers make their tile selections I had to remind myself that they were the ones who had to walk in that bathroom every day not me. I was only there to guide them and make sure they knew their options. One lady wanted everything blue. Wall tile, accent, floor tile ...everything blue. I did my best to work around her limitations and even though it may have looked like cookie monster threw up in there, she was thrilled to pieces. I am doing a lot of homework on our choices for this house. I love the positive feedback and ideas I get from most of the people on here which definitely helps open my eyes to what I may not have realized. I appreciate all the helpfulness I can get :)...See Moreabundantblessings
