glass canopy range hoods - cleaning issues?
Comments (0)As part of my kitchen renovation, I'm getting my first range hood. I like the style of the glass canopy models. I'm wondering: Since the glass is see through, does that mean constant cleaning of the underside of the canopy? Obviously, this wouldn't be an issue with SS. Looking at Kobe model CX183GS-8 and a Brisas by Zephyr. Zephyr has 3 speeds as opposed to Kobe's 2. Kobe is rated much quieter. Zephyr has better lights. Both about the same CFM's. Other model suggestions? Thoughts on any of the above appreciated!...See Moreglass-canopy recirculating range hood ?s
Comments (11)I've had my GE monogram hood with glass canopy for almost three years. It is vented outside. A lot depends on what you cook. If you do stir fry or such, the glass and mesh filter will get greasy, whether it is vented out or recirculating. Cleanup is easy though. I typically use hot water and a microfiber cloth to clean underside and top. Dust does collect on the top side of the glass, but that is an easy wipe down every few days in my house. This style of range hood requires a bit more upkeep than others. They are very pretty and sleek looking though. What kind of range or cooktop will you have? Try to find a hood that is deep enough so that the exhaust part covers at least part of the front burners....See MoreGlass gets soooo dirty!!

Comments (6)I have a stainless 36" hood over a 30" range. We always cook dinner at home...I mean every single night, from scratch, messy cooking. I have had the hood in use for well over a year now and have never had grease on the outside...dust, yes...grease, no. I wonder if maybe your hood is too far from the cooking surface or not enough cfm's....See Moreshanghaimom
