Match new wood flooring to existing?

Hi, all you kind kitchen renovators. I really need some help. I'm installing natural maple cabinets and costa esmeralda granite (pale sage green--going for a Zen look). I desperately want to install a warm wood floor, but the engineered wood I used in the rest of the house when we moved in 10 years ago is no longer made. The only place where you'd see the two together is at the threshold of the kitchen entryway. Is it ever okay to go with one color of wood in a kitchen and a different wood in the halls and bedroom? Should I try to match the two or go for something dramatically different (warm golden ash in the house and, say, red oak or cherry in the kitchen)? Or (here's the scary part) will I need to tear out all the existing wood and re-do everything so that there's only one wood color throughout the house? What do you recommend? I anxiously await your reply.

Many thanks!

DJ
