Garbage disposals that work with a deep sink
Comments (2)The problem is that the height of your drain pipe above the floor is too high and needs to be lowered. This will require tearing into the wall behind the sink. I would add that the Insinkerator Evolution has a drain slightly lower than the older Insinkerator models, so that is an additional height loss. I have an Evolution mounted to a sink that is 10-inches below the countertop surface. The disposer drain barely adapts to a normal trap connected to what I believe is a standard height drain pipe. Although there are limits to how low the trap weir can can be (2 feet max below the basin, so below the floor is too low), I am unaware of any code requirement for a particular point of exit at the wall. I suspect that the height normally set by plumbers is intended to provide maximum space on the cabinet base surface. kas...See MoreTo garbage disposal or not garbage disposal
Comments (26)My husband and I were just discussing this the other day, if we had it to do over again, we wouldn't. I don't really cook the kind of meals that need a lot of "disposing" and my garbage is picked up twice a week. I don't think it is worth the sometimes smelly unpleasantness. It probably is more likely to smell if you hardly ever use it, as in our case. I only got it because I replaced the one that went on the fritz after 16 years. I should have just ditched it then and could have gotten a different kind of sink but that's a whole other story. I also don't like how much room it takes up under the sink....See MoreSink w offset drain, garbage disposal and pull-out trash below?
Comments (9)we're planning this same set-up. I chose the blanco diamond super single because I wanted a single bowl sink with the drain off to the right side. We will also have a disposal and a hot water tap on the right. We planned it this way so we could free up the left side space for a garbage bin under the sink. We are planning for a rev-a-shelf double 35qt system which should fit perfectly. I'm waiting till our granite and sink are in before we do that though. On the other door I'm putting the rev-a-shelf sink base storage unit (holds dish soap, sponges..etc). My sinkbase is going to be jam-packed with stuff and it will hopefully make life easier. Here is a link that might be useful: trash bin...See MoreDeep sink, garbage disposal and waste drain... oh my!
