Should I paint my cherry cabinets white?
Comments (31)I would not paint those cabinets, especially if they are solid cherry. I would refinish them. Either stripped them and leave them naked (w/ only a waxed finish), or I would stained them darker chocolate brown. If you want a cottage farmhouse look, then maybe light stain with darker stain glazing to highlight distress and mimic age. I just think white is too stark & would make your floor looks dingy. Just an opinion. :-D...See MoreWhat color should I paint my cabinets? I have White Dove walls.
Comments (0)I just painted my walls in White Dove by BM. I have a subway tile backsplash in the kitchen with black grout. I'd like to paint my cabinets white and the island Navel (dark blue), but what color white should I paint my cabinets? The subway tile is a bright white and the WD if a very soft white/gray. Worried they will all clash or have too many shades of white going on. Help! :)...See MoreWhat shade of white should I paint my cabinets?
Comments (14)It's impossible to be sure just from a picture, but it looks to me like your cabinets, counter, etc. are well-made and were probably expensive when they were installed. Doing a quick patch job of redecorating by painting and putting peel and stick tiles over the backsplash is going to give you a lighter kitchen, but it will turn it into a cheap-looking kitchen in the process. Of course it's up to you what you can tolerate. If this were my kitchen, my choice would be to stick with a high-quality look that's out of style (especially since it's fairly neutral) until I could get a firm vision of what I wanted to do AND make sure I had the budget to do it right....See MoreShould I paint my cabinets to white or not?
Comments (7)I like the contrast, too, from what I can see in this picture. I painted my oak cabinets white last year. But they were late 90s golden oak—not dark like yours. Yours are a much nicer color than mine started off! I lived with it 2 years before I decided and I also made countertop/flooring/backsplash choices before I made final paint choice. My best advise is just wait and see if you want to make any other changes before you paint the cabinets. Walls are much easier to repaint than cabinets 😁...See MoreLauren_StL
