Unbelievable high-end Ikea kitchen (and how to paint Ikea cabs)
Comments (45)Stacyneil - Great posting and picture. When I look at this picture, I definitely think high end...and then see it's from Ikea!!!! It is gorgeous! And Natschultz you wrote "Seriously! Why, and I am dead serious here, do people WILLINGLY spend close to a year's salary on a kitchen redo and SETTLE for cabinets that are NOT MADE TO LAST? Why do I feel like the ONLY person on the planet that finds the cost of crap cabinetry ABSOLUTELY OUTRAGEOUS?!?!?" My father taught me alot of things in my 40+ years....one of the most important is - Never count anyone's money. Meaning it's not your place to tell people (or consumers) where to spend THEIR money. If someone wants to spend 5K on a new kitchen it is their choice, as the same if someone wants to spend 150K. I'm pretty sure no one asked for your opinion on how much they should spend on their kitchen. And I'm sorry if this sounds harsh, but you are definitely showing your ignorance by blasting all kitchen designers based on a few articles you have read or have experience with. The harshness in your words are really not appreciated on a forum that offers so much help and assistance to many many people. I'm apologizing to you now.....does that make it all ok?!?!?!...See MoreRTA cabinets, 6 square, lowes or conestoga
Comments (8)I second the idea of going with Ikea. Because of the quality/cost ratio, the excellent hardware and the flexibility of the Ikea system. I recently installed an Ikea kitchen and couldn't be happier with it. I went with a layout that has all-drawers and pull-outs in the bases and that works fantastic. I'll link to an excellent example of what can be achieved with an Ikea kitchen: http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/load/kitchbath/msg0801465812705.html?86 and my own kitchen: http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/load/kitchbath/msg0712493717899.html I would suggest you try the kitchen planner on the Ikea website to see what is possible in your space. Although Ikea only works with a fixed range of cab sizes, they just might be right for you. When you come up with a plan forum members here and over on the Ikeafans kitchen forum will only be too happy to look it over and suggest improvements and offer encouragement. Comments (3)I think many custom cabinet lines can replicate that. I got a quote from Omega (full access/frameless line) a few years back that was a wall hung custom vanity in that walnut shaker style. More than Ikea for sure, but not outrageous for what I wanted. Finally getting my project off the ground and will be using a local custom shop to do all of our cabinets, one of which is a replica of that tall cabinet in your picture. Very reasonable IMO....See MoreHow to get a 35" wall cabinet out of IKEA
Comments (3)Writersblock - our ceilings aren't high enough. But good solution! The Cook's Kitchen - I've appreciated your input in this forum. You've offered many a great an insight and solution! It's probably going to be hard to understand for anyone who is not an IKEA fan. I like everything about their cabinets (except the doors). I especially like their interior organization tools, and when you include these the price can't be beat. I've use-tested the quality myself. This is my fourth IKEA kitchen, though first since they launched Sektion. Most of all, I simply enjoy the creativity of designing my own space....See Moremtpam2
