Not done yet.. but making progess. We have most of the cabinets installed and all of the appliances and just finished our soapstone template. Now we have to build the banquette, install the trim and backsplash and countertop, and build the desks.. but here's pictures so far. (We're using the old counter & sink.)
I'm still loving my cabinets! I love the color (starlight). I just got my Cushy cupboard order yesterday, so if I can freakin' decide on some drawer pulls I could actually move back in the kitchen!!
Velos & Fridge (LOOOVE the Velos!) Left side shows where banquette will go.
Sink wall- waiting for wonderful farmhouse soapstone sink. Notice the great Ambience under-cabinet lighting from Seagull - I think we could conduct surgery now. Either that or open a tannig booth : )
Here's my great new DCS dual-fuel with grill. Huge improvement over electric. The Victorian tiles go here.
That's it for now. I'll post more when we get the cherry hutch put together.
beth... could you tell me about the Velos? Is it just a microwave or does it also work as a convection/speed oven? I'm considering an Advantium but a little leary in light of the GE news. I want to weigh it against other similar products. Thanks.
The Velos is Whirlpool's speed cook oven. It is a microwave, convection, broiler, uber-scuber oven. It's an over-the range that we put over the counter & will trim out to look built in. Killer features:
It's 2.0 cubic feet and most micros are 1.5. True convection Steam sensor so you can cook with a steamer Crisping and broiling.Soften and melt.
But the real killer is the menu-driven user interface - it has a huge set of recipes/food types that you just select and the Velos tells you what to do and then pans to use and then it combines the cooking methods and cook time for you. It's pretty awesome. You set it up and then let it work. We had frozen chicken fingers tonight and they were quick and superb - crispy on the outside and moist in the middle. And DH cooked the whole meal on his own!
We were joking tonight that we should have gotten two.
Here's a long thread about the Velos. You can get the same oven from KitchenAid that is a true built-n but it's smaller and more expensive. The Velos is about $800-900
