$1200 corian countertop?
Comments (14)"$82 a sf is about the going rate here, plus $450 for the sink and mounting. I get $1188, which isnt far off from your quote. That would be average for Corian or quartz. A group A granite would be half that." $450 for the sink? Wow! $82 is typical. But I was talking to a quartz manufacturer the other day who quoted $75 per sink for the bathroom. I was shocked at that, since when we did our kitchen, they didn't separate out the cost of drilling a hole for the sink. However, I'm finding pricing for the bathroom to be quite high compared to the kitchen. Reason being that you need such small pieces. You're looking at less than 7sq'. Slabs average about 50sq'. So, if the fabricator needs to buy 50sq' of material and only sell you 7, he's got to increase his price to cover the risk that he's going to be stuck with the extra material. If you can find someone who deals with remnants, you might have more luck. I haven't found someone like that in my city. A quartz wholesaler I visited the other day gave me the number of a guy that specializes in vanities. I haven't called him yet, but I'm hoping that because he specializes in smaller pieces, he isn't going to have to charge me more for smaller pieces....See MoreWhat bathroom countertop for young boys? Comments (13)Thanks everyone. I am stain testing the cameo white corian vs. the blizzard ceasar stone (looked at it again, and the freckles are not so bad really). I am afraid the corian will scratch and read some not so favorable reviews here, so I am leaning towards the cs. Plus it did not do so well on my fingernail polish remover test. Thanks mayland for the suggestion, but we have already installed porcelain undermount sinks. Just can't see giving my boys marble (after I type this, I am cleaning up the carpet from the sparkly red and green spin-art splatter), and granite is too much movement. Stainless steel? Well, love the look but not so much for the bathroom. Thanks so much sassyinak for such a comprehensive summary!! It really made me think of all the options....See MoreCorian countertops - what to do with scraps?
Comments (11)Hi! I just did a kitchen remodel and kept the piece of Meganite (copycat Corian-type surface) from my stove cutout. The guy who did my counters said it's "easy" to cut, he uses a jigsaw with a new, sharp blade. Meganite is softer than corian.... I haven't tried to cut it yet, getting up the courage. Have you cut any of your Corian yet? Was it easy to work with? I want to cut a "halibut" shape out of my stuff, to add to a mosaic backsplash I'm making for the new kitchen and a top for an old plant stand base..... Another idea... use your corian to make a kitchen island top. Have fun! whifflewhim (newbie to forum)...See MoreCorian Witch Hazel Countertops are in!!!
Comments (56)designsaavy...no problem about the hijack...it's still about the Corian. I purchased my counters from Home Depot. There was a local fabricator I really wanted to use but HD had a sale that was too good to turn down. As luck would have it, HD contracted their fabricating and installs to that same fabricator so I got the best of both worlds. When I purchased mine, I took the layout, with exact measurements to Home Depot and you purchase the approximate square footage based on your layout. If that number ends up being a little more or less, they adjust before installation. Ours was pretty much dead on. Also, we actually purchased/contracted for our counters several months before they were installed. It was no problem at all...the fabricator just said call when you're ready for templating....See Morebarthelemy
