This is my first attempt at pics in a post. This photo is huge so I am not going to include the others. I noticed that if you click on the photo tho' it will link you to photobucket and you can see the rest. I should add that these marks are really not noticeable standing in the bathroom, but I have had to do some buffing, etc and on my hands and knees I noticed them. This probably seems super nit-picky, but I have already cleaned the more noticeable stains/smudges across the tile face... with a 50/50 vinegar water solution (is that BAD?). I am afraid to get any closer to the grout though which is why the smudging you still see is near the edges. I can live with it, but if there are any suggestions for cleaning up a bit more I would be grateful! (I should add that there are only some places like this throughout the floor, most of the grout lines are "tighter" and cleaner, which is probably why these stood out to me in the first place) Thanks!

Highly unlikely that any current washer offers an overnight automatic soak. Those that have a soak function typically max-out at around 30 to 40 mins, and not all of them are that long. The longest auto-timed soak of which I'm aware over the past 15-ish years is 2 hrs on Fisher & Paykel's EcoSmart agitator toploader (although there may be other brands/models of which I don't know). Their product line on the U.S. market is in the midst of being revamped to include only two HE-impeller models, although if you run-quick you may find an EcoSmart agitator model yet in stock somewhere. Kenmore had some toploader models in the late 1990s to early 2000s with a Soak cycle that filled, agitated a few mins, then shut off without draining. No such units on the market today. You could perhaps find a used machine (via CraigsList or a local resale shop) if that's what you really want. As others have suggested, you can pull the power cord for an extended soak so the machine doesn't auto-drain after pausing for too long. The cycle will likely reset upon reconnection to power, but perhaps that isn't considered a problem. Speed Queen and Hotpoint did offer a very long timed-soak on particular agitator models in the late 1960s or early 1970s. See the soak timer at the left on this Hotpoint machine, 1 to 10 hrs timed soak (after which the cycle continues through wash, rinse & spin) or indefinite Soak/Hold.

This is a seminar and I won't go into that kind of breadth or depth on this subject. Basically, four things to consider regarding sealant: 1) use of the space - high traffic?; 2) color of grout; 3) type of grout; 4) type of sealer. Most sealers are not impenetrable and do breathe. Their purpose is to aid in the cleaning, not to make cleaning unnecessary. I would not rely on HGTV (both of your sources were actually quoting some HGTV guy) and a carpet cleaning company for information on this. If you get a room full of real professionals together who have been doing this work for decades, I'm doubtful you will find agreement with your referred sources conclusions. Seal on but rely on manufacturer recommendations and those of your qualified tile professional to determine the best sealer (and grout) for your application. Now, from afar and in general terms, your question about a non-sanded grout sealer. Have you already grouted it? If you haven't, then Laticrete Select non-sanded grout does not require sealant. If you have already grouted it, then we might recommend Miracle Porous Plus (use it in well ventilated area as it is petroleum based). Van Herron Stain Guard is fine too (do a couple coats if you use that). Our opinion but we base these decisions on all the things mentioned above on our own projects.
