Do you recommend a soap dispenser for each sink?
Comments (23)Unquestionably yes. I have Elkay soap dispensers in my kitchen hooked up hand soap and had one in my old kitchen. I never had any trouble with any of them. I enjoy not having to play chase the drippy freestanding dispenser slipping around the counter game Plus, I had the hassle of trying to find a decent looking freestanding one that looked good in my kitchen. Lots of shopping trips and wasted time. Then, they wouldn't last long so more shopping trips. I like the visually cleaner look of the built-in. Less mess sitting around on the counter. My prep sink has a Tapmaster so I don't even have to touch the faucet to turn it on and off. That, combined with a quick tap of the built-in dispenser makes using that sink a breeze. Love my Tapmaster. I'm also happy I sprung for NeverMTs. They allow you to connect your dispenser directly into a giant bottle of soap (hand soap in my case) so you don't have to refill the little bottle that comes with your dispenser. You can go years without having to refill the soap. Here is a link that might be useful: NeverMT...See MoreSoap dispenser or no soap dispenser?
Comments (36)Can anyone recommend a dispenser with a LONG spout? The one we have now (Price Pfister) has an utterly useless 2" spout. I have found a 3 7/8" spout, also 3 1/2", but am wondering if there are any that are longer. The new sink is 10" deep. We weren't going to get a new soap dispenser, but after reading this thread, I thought, "I don't want ugly bottles on my new granite!" I could do a rack mounted on the sink cabinet door, but I think the dispenser is neater :-) It just needs a long spout so it can actually squirt dish soap into the pots, instead of dribbling down the side of the sink. Will definitely get a NeverMT--so glad that I heard of it here!...See MoreDo you have Grohe or Hansgrohe soap dispensers?
Comments (24)I have a Grohe soap dispenser that is almost 7 years old, and looks like the day it was installed. I do not recall the model number. Whatever soap dispenser you get, make sure not to install it too far back from the sink edge or you will get soap on the counter. Mine seems at a good spot - approx. 2-1/4" from sink/counter edge to center of soap dispenser. It may depend on the length of the dispenser. I did have an occasional clogging problem when I was using Palmolive soap. Unclogging was easy--just stick the pump in a tall glass of hot water, and pump the hot water through until it flows easily. I did away with that issue entirely when I switched to Seventh Generation Dish Washing Liquid (learned about on this Forum, thanks!). Seventh Generation is not as thick as Palmolive. Works great too, quite the grease-cutter....See MoreDo you like having a built in soap dispenser?
Comments (46)I had the same dilemma, and I asked about it in the thread below. I did not get one. I keep the dish soap under the sink. I was all about ease of cleaning, and I didn't want another thing to clean around. That said, I have friends who have three dispensers next to the sink in their beautiful, functional kitchen: one for dish soap, one for hand soap, and one for hand lotion. They and I represent the two ends of the soap dispenser spectrum. Soap Dispensers Redux...See Morea2gemini
