soft white on off white paint colors advice
Comments (8)That's what I'm looking for my cabinets and trim, a nice creamy white that is not too white yet not the same color as the walls. I have a paint chip of SW dover white and it looks beautiful. I put a dot of grand teton white paint onto my sw dover paint chip and it pretty much blended in. cloud white looks really white against grand teton white so I'm scared to commit. I'll have to buy a sample of sw dover and try it against grand teton to see if there is a difference on a larger scale. whites are so confusing :(...See MoreSoft white cabinets -- what company makes the least yellow/cream?
Comments (4)White has to have some color undertones to be "off white". Those color undertones can be bluish (very cold feeling). Greenish (also cold, and throws other colors off) Red (most people HATE pink undertones in their cabinets, despite it being a fairly flattering undertone for complexions) Grey (a true gray that has no mix of any other tint in it than black will take on different tones in different lights, but most do feel "cool") Yellow (This is what most "cream" colors have their basis in as it's a warm tone. Too much can leave it feeling "nicotine stained" though.) Orange (This is a VERY tricky undertone to pull off, but it can work quite well to give a warm feel to the white. ) Yellow undertones are the most popular off white, and they are the easiest to work with when planning a room as most woods have yellow undertones. Grays are popular at the moment, but as a long term choice, they will not stand the test of time as an "off white". They do better standing alone as "gray" by choosing a dark enough tone that it shifts to that rather than "off white"....See MoreWhat is a good creamy white paint color to paint exterior brick?
Comments (8)I wouldn't paint that brick. Lime wash is (mostly) for unfortunately colored brick. Yours already has a similar lime wash look and it has a really good colorway. Get a designer to suggest some new ideas for the trim/shutter/door color. Try taking off the shutters to see if that helps give an updated look/feel....See MoreLooking for a good white paint color for my kitchen cabinets
Comments (9)Love the kitchen as is, and love the dog. I don’t think you should paint the cabinets. It will make your white hood look off, and I think it will be tough to get the right white to go with your counters. There are a thousand shades of white, some warm, some cool, and it’s very difficult to choose one when you already have an expanse of white counters and an expanse of white hood....See Moremiss_kenda
